Got to ask why Leigh fans thought he was as bad for you? We know of 3 big calls he got wrong against us, the knock o by you near your line, the play the ball he let you do again and that tackle he penalised us for which was just the same as the one against sam Barlow 5 minutes earlier.
Bald git I dislike the man he is just as bad in SL when I have seen him, stuck up his own you know what.

The forward pass for Worrincy's try would be the big issue. Gave a ball steal against McNally despite it being a clear one-on-one. Maden being knee'd (is there a word for that?!) in the back in the first half when already tackled. Morrison and his usual 'big man' act with cheap shots when third man in the tackle. Pretty sure Thackery's try came off the back of a poor decision though I can't remember exactly what (the booing from the fans is usually a giveaway!)

Leigh's average penalties per game this season was reached by half time today. Bentham is usually listed as Warrington.

We all see the things that effect our team. The forward pass for the Worrincy try, the continual marker offside especially leading to the try, the knees to Maden, the late shot to McNally when on the ground.
He seems to try extra hard to show he wasn't a Leigh fan in younger life, especially as Scummins is the paymaster.

I think that knock on was the worst as it would have given us the ball near your line rather than a relieving penalty to you.

Cant wait to watch the replay of this, i thought as long as a player isnt tackled then hes a free target as long as it isnt an attack to the head or anything stupid with elbows and the like.

A few things that i thought stood out. Allowing the Leigh player to move off the mark at the play the ball in the first half leading to their try. Wasnt a penalty so he had no right to move the ball backward and should have been penalised. One of our trys looked suspicious but the one we had ruled out looked ok so swings and roundabouts there. I dont think Leigh made it out of their own half in the second half without the ref piggy backing them up field. One pentalty was especially galling, the one where we were done on the last tackle when the Leigh player dropped the ball. We went from having the ball on half way to defending our own line. Fair enough if we were offside but after 20 minutes of the second half he stopped giving offside yet Leigh were constantly offside when we were on the attack. Now im not saying we wernt but we just want some consistancy, i mean watch Duffy when he was on the field, im not sure he made it back on side more than 5 tackles the whole match. I thought in doing this the ref let Leigh back in the game just to make a game of it. The Mcnally knock on was just laughable. He drops the ball over his shoulder yet we again get penalised and Leigh are marched up field. I was shocked when he gave the penalty to let us even up the game but then again we only got the obvious ones all afternoon.

Im not in the slightest bit surprised Rhino went mad after the game.

Just shows how fans see things differently I thought he was deliberately trying to show he s not baised, he was orgianally from Leigh, where he lives now is not the issue is it.
SO both sets of fans didn't like his reffing. It because SL refs are more picky and are used to quicker play the balls etc.

This is a virtual mirror image of our thoughts. Fax offside all game etc Suppose it's why we are fans of a club really.

Yeah ive no doubt that we were offside most of the game too but i always wonder why refs pick the ones they do. The last tackle piggy back one was the worst for me.

The same goes for the spear tackle, Barlow was withdrawn due to taking a bang on the head in a clear spear tackle that went unpunished yet we were punished for a similar tackle. Luckily Sam was able to shake it off and was able to come back on.

I dont for the life in me think refs are biased, they are simply inconsistent.

im with you on that GFB. Its those inconsistencies that really wind the fans up though. Yes we were offside at a lot of the play of the balls, but so were Leigh and I dont get too wound up by that, but then the ref all of a sudden decides to penalise for offside, the next set that leigh are defending they are just as offside as the ones he has just penalised us for, really beats me. Yep, the spear tackle was identical but one punished one not????

On the subject of the absolutely clear knock on, close to their own line. I dont actually blame Bentham for that one, he was running downfield and could easily have seen it the other way, no i blame his toch judges as one was very, very near the incident and could easily have seen it.

An interesting one was Gardner's disallowed try. I got a great view of it and it was a clear knock on, yet the in goal official was stood 2 yards away with an unobstructed view and gave the try! At least Bentham did the right thing and listened to his linesman to rule it out, but it's a little concerning that the in goal official wanted to award it!

Be fair Matt. The in goal official was born and brought up in a house on Kirkhall Lane and has been a regular at our games for at least 20 years.

I'm more concerned that our touch-finder from a penalty late in the game failed badly & spewed up possession when a comfortable yard gainer would have put pressure on Leigh & not going for goal at 16-6 up from a penalty with an extra two points on the board would have made it a three scores game but we run it and spew up on the 2nd tackle & yet we opt to take two with the last kick of normal time, what's the difference in which time frame of the game two points are scored ? Poor decisions that cost us dearly.
Yes, Bentham was poor but I felt that Rob's try was more than a yard forward pass.

Worrancy try was miles forward ! As much as I like him, his positional play is appalling. If blew 2 certain trys to not coming inside. Irrespective, fax are a quality side and both teams need to be commended for another cracking cup tie. As for the ref, if was poor for both sides.

Come on Matt, it's RL not tiddlywinks, he fell to the ground to stop being tackled in goal and dived with his back to the oncoming defenders who were already in place, those situations you are bound to get stray joints flying about. Even the Leythers I was standing with agreed there was nothing wrong with it. You can tell if someone is malicious by the player's reactions and there was none whatsoever.

The McNally 'ball steal' is a stupid rule which I don't agree with at all but Bentham got it right. Fieldhouse went into a tackle with two Leigh players, bounced them off and ran into McNally who stole the ball 'one on one' but the other two Leigh players who were bounced off still count as being part of the tackle.

I thought Manning's pass for Worrincy's try was bob on, shame it wasn't him delivering the pass for the bombed try!



Fax could have had the game sewn up but played dumb rugby at crucial times. Stupid penalties from Ambler and Barlow, poor kick choices from Penky, Handforth missing touch, two VERY soft tries. I could go on. Leigh deserved the win but didn't play particularly well. If we had a bit more composure and a bit more intelligence we could have won.

In summary, you were still bladdered from Saturday night pal and were watching a different game to the rest of us

That Duffy was constantly offside...I don't think he's able (weighty) to keep running back so doesn't! In the first half he made us drop out...why would 2 fax players watch it roll out if someone had touched it!! Like i know they don't have many GCSE's amongst them but still.....
I cannot remember the last time we had such a poor referee. You can forgive the odd decision but not about 5! He should be demoted to CL1!
