No disrespect to all the others but there is only Fev, Leigh and us to get excited about and hopefully Barra.
I do not include Sheffield as whilst they are as good side, their attendances home and away bring nothing to the League.

This really sums up the problems we face in the lower leagues,When a team who have done as well as Leigh this season are struggling what chance everyone else.As long as the powers that be focus solely on the super league we in our divisions are going to struggle.Good luck Leigh hope you can get things sorted.

Thanks to all our Fax Friends , the situation isvery SERIOUS at the moment , but we are hopeful , a meeting next Wednesday will hopefully give us some light at the end of the Tunnel .

2 things concern me about why Leigh are where thay are;

1. Why did they allow themselves to exceed a salary cap knowing they might have restricted finances
2. why did they base their financial plans on achieving a GF spot.

I hope they pull through and sure they will but something smacks of poor management to me, surely clubs have budgets to work to that are designed to keep them solvent?

I think we (Batley) may cause a moment or 2 of excitement as well, in the same way we have over the last couple of years



Good luck to Leigh though, hope they sort things out. A proper, traditonal club with a great set of fans.

1. Finances were only restricted mid-season when the business of our former chairman went bust

2. The £30k minimum for reaching the Grand Final was seemingly within grasp with a home play-off against a side we'd already beaten three times this season, two of which were particularly big victories.

As it is, we've got to pull together now and hopefully come through on the other side.

What hapened at Leigh to be fair could happen at any number of clubs, as most clubs have Directors that put money in.But when that person goes bust and cannot carry on doing it then things start to go pear shaped. We all know that what should happen is you cut your cloth according to what`s coming in but if someone offers you a top up every month which could pay for a first class coach and a few players you would not have been able to afford who would say no? Especialy when fans are expecting results on the field and have Super League aspirations.Aurther Thomas went bust because someone else did who owed him a great deal of money he had no alternative but to leave. Like a good many clubs have they will learn a lesson from this and cut the budget on players and coaches ,well till the next "White Knight" at least.

Tough times at Leigh. Hope everything works out for them. On a relative point do other people think it's crazy that we have just 11 scheduled home games next season. It must be the lowest in any other uk team sport.

Wonder if you'd be allowed to go under if you were an expansion club? We're all thinking it, so I said it.

I do hope Leigh can resolve their problems and manage to stay in this league. We've had some cracking games between our clubs and some great banter. Long may it continue.

Along with NRC & challenge cup there will be a few more, however with gates dropping and clubs with lower supporters coming in the bigger clubs, fax, fev, Leigh will feel it the most on the gates whilst the poorer followed clubs will benefit much more.

Unfortunately faxhali that 11 games includes league and NRC matches. Yes we might have 1 or 2 cc games but it's still too few

Really sorry that leigh have their financial problems and hope that they manage to overcome them BUT

Isnt the idea of having a millionaire backer one of the things the RFL said we needed to be a better prospect for Super League? Arthur Thomas has put loads into Leigh helping them employ some first class talent but once he has had to leave, the whole pack of cards falls down. . it's the same at Crusaders Harlequins, Barrow etc etc without even thinking about Halifax Rugby Union Club and what the death of David Brook did to them

and yet the RFL prefer a money man behind a club, to any Club that runs on its turnover and manages its budgets

That's the whole RFL policy though. Just think what would happen is Sky pulled the plug. Ten SL clubs would go to the wall in an instant. Players would have to go part time and the best talent would walk over to RU.

But that isn't going to happen. Is it?

Yes it stinks doesn't it Adam , the RFL seem to want their cake and eat it when it comes to us Championship clubs , yet the current SL tenants seem immune to the same rules

We at Leigh have a fantastic facility , but one that is strangling us , we are a town in probably the worst location possible , with no big industry , no large employers owned by local people , what industry we do have is struggling to survive

What is our future ? , do we have a future ? , who knows , we' ll try , are our problems down to the RFL ? , no , do their policys help us ? , probably not , do they want or need us ? , yes , they do , the Championships are rapidly becoming what we all said they were a couple of months ago , The Forgotten Leagues , take away another supposedly biggish club and it really is close to disappearing , so hopefully we can survive , and somehow with the co operation and collective help of the other main players outside SL we can all have a future

Good luck Leigh. I have very fond memories of playing at Hilton Park in my youth & visiting as a speccie. It sickens me how heartland clubs are left to die like animals in the wild with little help from those who can.

It isn't the RFL s fault we are where we are though , it is ours , the world changes , if we don't change with it , we die , simple as
