Other then fev or Toulouse we are playing the form side this weekend it should be another tough game for us. This is tough one to call. A few weeks ago I would have been fairly confident but as TS says Whitehaven are on a roll now. With no news following on from the Fev game on knocks / injuries and who will be available it’s hard to say but going on the lads coming through without anything serious added I’ll be positive and say our long range attack will be just enough to get us the points.

I can't see past a Haven win unfortunatley. We were not that good against them at home and it were a slog, added to that they are very good at home and its also Jesse Joe Parker's last game and they will be well up for it just for that reason alone. For us we look like we might struggle to get 17 fit players on the pitch. Getting Morris back from covid protocols should give us a boost especially as it has given him chance to rest up as he looked fatigued before this.

I see our best chance of getting in the top 4 now as beating batley at home in which case we would play them 2 games on the bounce.

And whitehavens coach is moving upstairs at the end of this season and he as done a cracking job for them. So this will be is and jesse joes last home game they will be well fired up it will come down too who wants it most on the day.

Hard to get excited when the club gave up on this season several weeks ago and Fev last week killed it for me.
We all know we may get a win first playoff then get a tonking.Sad that as a club we can no longer compete at the second level of RL.Hopefully this will change for next year and the initial steps are encouraging.

I suppose the fact of the likes of london going part time it suddenly causes you to reflect on just where the sport is heading . They have tried their best with london over many years , had a successful financier but still the club as a business concept just hasn't cracked it . I just dont feel anyone in the sport has a direction for professional clubs to aspire to .

I really don’t understand your negativity. We are going to finish in the play offs and hopefully in 3rd or 4th spot. Before the season had started if you had been told we would finish 3 I bet you would have been happy with that. I agree that If/when
we play Fev or Toulouse we will (more than likely) lose and it might be by a big margin but those two squad are well ahead of the game in the championship. I feel it’s been a good season for our new Panthers. We could finish 3rd we won 9 games in the bounce crowds have been OK considering what’s going on with Covid. I think we have given a good showing this season. Nothing is ever perfect in Sport and the club have been managing it with less money (as always). I think there are a lot of positives to be taken from the season.

That another thing, I thought the rebrand was done really well but after that its all been a bit poor. I mean we don't even get injury news anymore and fan engagement seems at an all time low.

Accepting even lauding mediocrity is what’s got this club where it is now.No I’m not satisfied with third place in a league that only has two decent teams.The very minimum requirement to me was that we would have a competitive chance of promotion come the business end and that clearly isn’t the case.

What's got us where we are is poor attendances and the lack of a big money backer - in the light of this I fully agree wirh an earlier comment that 3rd/4th finish this year would be a good achievement- I'm sure clubs like Bradford, Widnes, London and York who were all forecast to finish above us would happily swap places. I'm frustrated when people talk about a lack of ambition at the club , while all supporters want the best for their club, without the necessary finances directors have to be realistic - like most on here was really pleased with the squad put together this year - if you compare it to Toulouse and Featherstone though it was way off them in quality and numbers.

I'm with BJ on this one. Lack of ambition/mediocrity is only going to lead in one direction. Before the season started i had us down for 4th behind the current top two and Widnes, with hopefully a good cup run in one of the two competitions. We may yet achieve 3rd place but have we had a result where we thought wow that was a great win? Accepting a season like this and not allowing owt to be said against our club has indeed got us where we are now. Having said all that perhaps this is the one season ever where just staying afloat is acceptable. There are worse things going on out there after all. Promotion this year will almost inevitably lead to relegation the next, especially if SL goes to two divisions of ten. Onto next year though and we really must have a change in attitude from the club. I'll be there whatever but to gain those lost/new supporters we really need to kick on, on and off the field. We used to get monthly updates from different board members how long as it been since we last heard one of those that would be a good place to start. Just to give us fans a heads up on what's going on behind the scenes. We were supposed to be announcing some new members to the board this was months ago they said we should hear something in a matter of weeks but so far nothing. Communication and social media presence is everything these days we don't do bad when it comes to promoting gameday. But more of a idea about the clubs ambitions and how to achieve these and if the fans can help with this we need to hear more about. If any of the board read these forums by all means ram all the information you can down our throats its how you keep fans engaged and hopefully attract new ones.

The board member that was a great link between club and supporters has recently left his position sadly.

Yes it is a sad state of affairs when one person leaving however good they are and you go from pretty good communication to none existent. Just out of interest how many on here are going on sunday i was hoping to make a weekend of it but due to a change in circumstances i will have to go just for the match know hopefully we put in a performance to make it worthwhile.

Just read an article on the envisaged central funding reductions for next year. Maybe our last ceo who worked for free saw the writing on the wall? Just how does the clubs finances paying near on 5k a month rent and no club bar work with reduced central funding . Is it mission impossible ? The numbers coming through the gates just wont pay the Bill's these days . To be fair the team has played on the whole better than I expected . The rebranding was only ever going to work with constant development to capture the audience ie like the bulls way back

I guess the hope will be a lot of it will be covered by sponsorship, afterall Fax's sponsorship levels have been notably high for many years which has allowed us to compete near the top of the table despite the problems with not owning our own ground. I also remember Ian Croad had said that the cuts were expected and most teams in the Championship already had plans in place for worst case scenarios. As far as I know the cuts are not as servere as people were thinking they were going to be and it also might explain some of the playing decisions this season in getting rid of players and saving money on replacements.

The chances of us beating both Fev and Toulouse to gain promotion would be nearly none and we have finished higher than a number of teams who will have spent more than us although anyone who knows rugby could see we had put together a team that should be capable of 3rd or 4th although losing a number of players has now made that a lot closer than it should have been. It may be the same again next season but by the sounds of it we will have a team that will be competing near the top which is needed if any split happens but again we will be up against it with likely Fev and Leigh both spending a lot of money to try and get to the promised land which again might not happen if there is a drop to 10 teams. After that we will probably have Bradford over spending again for a year or two before the inevitable happens again and York won't be as bad as they have been this year. Add to that the teams that have "over achieved" this year in Haven and batley and then a number of other teams and next year is going to be a really good division despite the cuts which are due to the failings of the people at the top table anyway.

Wasn't there so can't comment on the performance- several have mentioned strange selections- while we don't know due to lack of info from the club I'd guess to a large extent its down to injuries/ fitness. Unfortunately now only 2 teams really have any interest in the playoffs - for the rest next week will merely determine wether we have 1 or 2 games left this season before an embarrassing tonking at Toulouse or Fev. Pity that it looks unlikely we'll be unlikely to meet up with the Bulls again as this would have at least given the chance to play for local bragging rights and more importantly bring in much needed revenue from a big gate. As has been said before main focus now for the club will be doing everything it can to ensure they earn a place in "superleague 2" if this goes ahead as I suspect it will.
