| Awesome tonight, showed backbone, pride, spirit, fight and at the end the brains and commitment to close out a game, everything you want from guys that put on the blue and white shirts. You were a credit to yourselves and everyone connected with the club.
From a weakened side that second half showed guts and i applaud every one of the lads.
Win it lads, for yourselves, for the fans, for the club and for the good of Rugby League. Put your names down on the honours board and make your legacy special.

Great performance - thank you very much lads.

| Too be honest Widnes where crap, as blew it after been 12 points up.Allen expected Tyrer to catch a pass 12 ft high and i am disappointed we have signed him for Sl.James Coyle should never wear a Widnes shirt, and we have 3 youngsters in Gore,Craven, and Owens who could have done a better job.No composure, or kicking game and if play like that at Fev, then no bonus points.Anyway goodluck in the Championship. We will need it in Superleague.

Yer thought it was curtains with no Penky or Jim Gannon, Ostick is not a ptach on big Jim. Plus after a very tough and bruising game last Sunday as well.
But we dug in and nice to see Danny Jones get his kicking game going better, that chip over for Bowman was great.
Widnes were good in patches, they kciked on the hole well pushing us back but faded badly.
Yes we beat the Sky and SL bound Widnes, the can choke on that song we are SL, so what we beat you again.

Too right Offthecuff, but what I've never understood is this attendance malarky at Stinky Stadium. You play against Leigh ... Att 3,300. You play against Batley ... Att 3,300. You play against Toulouse ... Att 3,300. You play against the Mighty Fax ... Att 3,300. No matter what the night and what the opposition, it always seems to be 3,300.
But what I did notice tonight ..... a couple of seasons ago The Shay "was buzzing" for a televised match against you stinkies when your fans brought a good 700 - 800 who inhabited the North Stand. Tonight we had a "handful" of chav stinky fans in "a knot" in the corner of the South Stand. Call me "Mr Cynical" but what's that all about, then?

Bit harsh but this is what the RFL have made it for us and the game now it was kind of a meaningless game but not as we could still get 4th possibly but its a long shot. It was a bit flat, especially from the Fax fans until that last 10 minutes.
Daft thing is Widnes lost but they have the last laugh as they are in SL despite never having been in a GF not yet anyway and I doubt it on that performance.

Not at all, the game was "not" meaningless as we still had league positions to play for and there's still the "momentum factor" regarding the end of season run in for the GF, regardless of the SL franchice bow locks which may have preceeded. That was a very poor effort by the scouse fans tonight, the worst turn out I can remember. And I've always been suspicious of their "3,300 attendence claims" when I've seen them on the box. Hmmmm .....

The attendance when Leigh went to widnes last week was 4700+ so it's not always 3,300.

The att at the stinky stadium is over 4,000 these days. As for todays travelling, prehaps because it was on a Thursday night and on Sky, fewer people made the trip. But you know that anyway.

To be fair to Widnes they were crap. I said they were the worst team i had seen this season when we played at yours and ive seen nothing to change my mind. A really poor team but whats it matter?
We had half a team missing and still won, i feel sorry for Widnes fans as in the last 3 years of the Championship they havnt really achieved anything.

| I don't buy into this !
"Widnes were crap" bull$hit, they were "crap" enough to be 24-12 in front and as it proved in the end another score for them at that point would have seen us scratching for a bonus point at best.
Try the line "they were MADE to look crap" for the second half of the game, the conditions as they were, they should have tightened their own game up & watched their awful self discipline instead of piggy backing Halifax. For lessons in throwing the ball around desperado's, Halifax are the master craftsmen, but don't expect it to work on every occassion, you slid in defence very well to combat our fringe/flank attacks, but you didn't cope very well with the dabs through when Danny Jones spotted your sliding defence and he put the ball in the correct space for our runners to score.
Betts got his gameplan wrong I'm afraid, Ball got his correct & his players executed it very well.

I agree. Also, Widnes wanted to beat us so badly they utterly lost the plot by not playing to the conditions and giving away cheap field position through too many penalties. What did the penalty count end up, anyone?

The only thing worse than a bad loser is a poor winner.
Probably worth getting your own house in order before you start worrying about other teams. What did you have there last night 1,700 - 1,800 of your own fans?

| Nice touch from the Fax lads to run to South Stand at the end, as always lead by Miles and Rob. Interesting that Frank, Rob and Whitey were interviewed by Pete Emmett on the field too.
Strange that the Widnes players didn't come over to acknowledge their fans. The fans which had travelled over, on a thursday night, in appalling weather, when they could have stayed home and watched on SKY TV. The Widnes fans were in very good voice all evening so why not make the effort to actually come over to thank them??
Maybe due to a large number of their players knowing they won't be playing for them next season? Maybe not.
Either way, to just briefly applaud the fans from halfway line is not right.

Not sure which game you were at... the Widnes players made their way over to the fans as they always do.
Never known them to not to that to be honest.
It's always pleasing to get a win but I was quite amused at the reaction of the Fax players and fans to be honest. I was half expecting a trophy to be presented and a lap of honour.
Still nice to see that the RFL managed to pacify your masses with a referee gained victory.
