email i received from harry after asking him to do a further piece on the licensing, the guy has gone up in my estimation by not only replying, but also by the sounds of it being honest.
On the other hand who the hell do the rfl think they are banning the media from showing certain things!

Yes a poor day for the game indeed and as he has been banned from speaking and the Supporters Direct cannot speak out because they are part funded by the RFL.Our own BODs cannot speak either so who is there to challenge the RFL? Do we just have to let them throw money away at half baked ideas then and say nought.

Time for the independent press to speak out, but we get bugger all coverage in the nationals and the trade press are too scared off upsetting the RFL apple cart.

Fergie's been banning Journo's from Man Utd pressers for years.

I asked a RL Journo why the RL Press wont speak up, he says the publications depend heavily on advertising from the RFL, if they upset the RFL, they lose that advertising. Even RLFANS has adverts for RFL Events on it now, RLFANS could survive without that sponsor, but in the trade press they often take out full page adverts which dont go cheap

The RFL don't pay the BBC though so how can they dictate him being banned from the Super League Show?

The RFL may have the right to terminate the broadcasting agreement with the BBC in an extreme situation and would then land them in hot water with the Challenge Cup being a 'protected' event etc?

He did present it last week, I think what they are saying is they won't grant any interviews with their officials/employees if Harry Gration is the Interviewer

The RFL would surely never let go the BBC coverage as it's free Nationally...

Anyway, away from the ins and outs of how they can ban people etc wtf's wrong with Rugby League fans? How can something like banning 'the face' of RL on terrestrial TV go through so un-noticed and reactionless? Shouldn't there be a 20 page thread on the VT questioning why the RFL has banned a TV pundit for asking questions!?

Brew, I asked him on Twitter if he's been banned from SLS and he said yes...well he said 'correct' to be pedantic.

I know the staff down there well and I am quite disappointed if this is the case. The voice of the supporter should be greater than any funding issue especially on such a ridiculous issue as franchising.

Put this on the VT. Outrageous.

I would be reluctant to put anything on the VT which sullies the "good name" of the RFL. They're a rabid mob of sanctamoneous "Super League only please" death eaters. They suck the life out of any anti-RFL viewpoint.(So long as it doesn't affect their club). Hell, we had a Huddersfield fan last week telling of his dismay that a "tin-pot" club like Halifax should not be wasting the RFL's time. Tin-pot!! He obviously didn't watch the game fifteen year ago. Beware of little Smokey Malfoy too - an irritant that never goes away.

Sadly regarding supporters direct the truth is that they ARE funded by the RFL, so how can they possibly be independent?? The RFL is a mafia type corporation with fingers in many different pies in order to facilitate what is said and published. It's a disgrace it really is

Hey whilst I don't think Nigel Wood is good at doing his job he is a Fianancial Guru thats his background and he has done a very clever trick in getting the RFL as 'paymasters' or key sponsors in influential places all over the place.
That gives him POWER, very clever Nigel but remember where that money comes from pal.

On the day of the franchise announcement HG was supposed to interview Wood but Wood pulled out very very late, Gration was incensed and had a slanting match with Wood.

It was quite public and got very personal, as a result the BBC suspended Gration and the RFL refused to deal with him again.

Think Clare Balding might be joining Harry in isolation, she's giving Lewis a right grilling on the red button forum!

Did you see him squirm when Clare said "rugby league is a sport and about entertainment, not a business, don't you agree?" His hesitant reply came back as "........er, no, not really".

Lewis was a pr1ck and didn't give a straight answer to anything.

Lets not underplay this one folks, Harry has done what a lot of people have wanted to do for a long time, and tell Wood some home truths. I can not describe how happy this makes me feel. Lets keep up the momentum and keep putting the pressure on the RFL.

I think we should all use this HG thing as something to rally round with a chant of, there only one Harry gation, theres only one Harry Gration, one Harry Gration ..............................

On the subject of having ago, why not produce some Nigel wood paper masks with a dunce hat on, or cross hairs
