at the shirt launch last night, Mike Riley said that the Club's application for super league was going in this week. What do you think? isn't it just a waste of time and that we wont get accepted it might be better to stay where we are and win things

We have to try develop the club rather than just stand still. I for 1 would not be happy if we was not going for it good luck to Mike and all the directors.

Filling in the SL application is very important IMO. OK! On the surface Widnes are rightly clear favorites and good luck to them, but we have to show the RFL that we remain serious contenders for not only this, but also future applications should we be unsuccessful this time. Anything can happen in the future, the RFL cant keep bailing Crusaders and Quins out all the time and should there come an opportunity to step up we will be there waiting. Come on people, just as Blacky said at the end of the GF, its all about belief! We have to strive and believe that one day we will regain what i feel and i assume thousands of others in Halifax believe is our rightful place in SL.

Spot on, the club have to try and show some enthusiasm otherwise the RFL will use it against us and say we did not bother last time so it shows we are not really that interested.
Plus what do you want as fans a club with no ambition?

I think this will help us in the long term as basically there are only 3 clubs who could ever get into SL who are not in now and that is us, Widnes and Leigh, imo. Sorry Fev and Barrow fans but Barrows ground is not up to the modern game requirements and I do not think Fev can ever get the level of support needed to sustain a SL team anymore the town/village is not big enough and Ponte is full of Cas fans nowadays. Just my own views.

Agree with the above. Whilst on one hand I do think it is pointless applying because SL know who they do and dont want in, it does mean the club is setting itself targets to continue progressing. By not applying, there would be a danger of standing still which is a dangerous thing to do in sport.

you have got to show the RFL that you are interested even if already know the outcome.

But stop believing in the impossible! The facts are... - the RFL hate Fax...Fax do not have the money to go up...it's never gonna happen...end of.

Add to that the people who put themselves forward as the true Fax supporters don't welcome new supporters...! Just because we've not been Fax supporters through the good old years doesn't mean we're not genuine supporters...can we get some oldies giving us 'newies' some support?!

I think you will find most people very accommodating. Sometimes some of the "oldies" are a little guarded as they often think new members are trolls taking the pee, but dont worry you will settle in. Welcome aboard and up the FAX!

As a neutral I would say your chances are NIL - the only reason I say this is because I was speaking to your club chairman at the TO game last season and even HE realised the club wasn't in a healthy enough position to even contemplate SL - he was,however,very envious of the TO set-up and belived that Fax had the same facilities & potential etc there would be no problem

All I'll say is, if we get the nod make sure your in our position next year (maybe more trophies like) but in terms of SL bid, be the standout! Don't worry about Toulouse, double their crowds and keep winning will see to that. If TO tick the boxes and get in fair play to them though.

no problems about TO for this round of bidding but they should have the stadium sorted and a more viable bid ready for the next round of franchise bidding in 2013/14

as far as i'm aware TO have made a bid for SL in 2012 but it's more in hope than expectation like any other club (without the exception of Widnes ) - they are currently sorting out thier stadium redevelopment into a 12000 capacity

Obviously TO don't understand as they haven't won the right to apply for SL this time around, they haven't reached ANY of the criteria required!! So why is it a token gesture from TO, said in myopinion like TO are doing us all a favour by applying?

Win the right to apply and nobody will have an issue with TO but we all know our sports beloved governing body will change rules, targets and anything else to ensure the game is taken further and further away from the heartlands and the origins of the sport.

Listen i'm not defending TO - i'm just giving you the facts as I undertand them by talking to the players, ex-players,officials & reading the local press & website etc
I believe (as a neutral) that TO should earn the right to their SL place like every other team - but the RFL,whether you like it or not seem hell-bent on 'expanding' the game so maybe special dispensation will be made for them.
If you believe RL should remain within the confines of the 'RL heartlands' then that's your opinion - the powers that be obviously feel differently.

Did you come over to Halifax for the TO game? as our club chairman didn't travel to Toulouse.

if your chairman is Mr Steele,then that's the person I spoke to because I was sure it was him and asked before speaking with him - he even signed my 'Game On' on the TO v Halifax page - this was at Toulouse just after the half-time break
