Holroyd has an ok kicking game but everything went through him. its another backward step in what is turning into a season full of problems for the club.

Doesn't necessarily help with Gleeson out for the season, signing two crocked PNGs and having Miles out for most of this season as well, but Calland should have moved to rectify the missing numbers.

Maybe Calland has signed him to shore up our weak defense, him being such a rock solid defensive player.

Seriously though, the mind boggles at this. Where is he going to play him? I would prefer Branighan to Holroyd any day and as has been mentioned what message does this send out to young Bowman?

He will sharpen up our attack, thats for sure. Wonder if he'll take over the goal-kicking once again? Whos gonna miss out on the starting line-up, Branighan or Black? Blacks been pretty poor this year, think Branighan will move to Scrum Half .

I'd prefer it if he was getting his chance now.I think that this signing is a backward step,but I hope I will be proved wrong.We could end up a bit of a laughing stock if we're not careful.Still a lot of folk think we are that already this season,even though we are joint 2nd in the table(sort of).

The year is 2010 and the likes of Gene, Holroyd, Smith (Who went to Leigh) etc are past it and not what we want. We want to see young players given a chance or brought in.
Wish we could bring in a Coach who could A) Develop players and the team and B) Did not live in the past! c) Look at bringing in players who can benefit the team more than 1 season! Very disappointed in this signing. What message does this give to Bowman?

I'm pretty astounded by this signing. Both times we have played Swinton this year, all Holroyd did was take kick-offs, pass the ball along the line, and kick on the sixth tackle. That was quite literally his only input. On numerous possession sets that Swinton had, I actually noticed him hiding away on the wing, which was bizarre for a playmaker!
Surely Calland can't be serious! Any Fax fans remember one of Holroyd's final games for you? The one against us at Mount Pleasant where the awesome Ben Feehan went round him for 5 tries on his debut?
