I wonder how long the internal investigation will take? Surely that should be fairly straight forward... should be done and dusted by now.

Just seen it on skypsorts breaking news. I hope there isn't a fine to follow, we've lost enough from this tie already.

I echo that sentiment. If this is all that will happen then we're lucky. Just have to wait now for the misconduct investigation.

Exactly right. The club is not doing itself any favours here. People want answers. The club need to be honest and quickly. The longer this so called internal investigation takes the more it drags on and the more harm is done.

That could still follow. They are now to investigate if Fax are guilty of misconduct! Err, yes, we fielded in ineligible player.

A fine may follow though if they find us guilty of misconducted.

But were we devious or stupid?

it would be counter productive for the RFL to give us a significant fine.

They will state the error was made "un-intentionally" and a "genuine non-calculated mistake" and let us off a large fine, but insist Fax review their internal controls and inform Red hall of their action plan to do this.

Devious = Heavy fine, some suspended
Stupid = Lighter fine suspended, exclusion from the cup deemed punishment enough.

Does it really matter? If we have been kicked out of the cup I can see us being guilty of misconduct. We did play a player who was cup tied. I would think that's enough for misconducted. Could be wrong though.

Well said. I know it's difficult but let's try to put this behind us. If we were to get our act together and win the Grand Final this mess would quickly be forgotten.

Having said that, we still require a full explanation asap before the fans start to vote with their feet.

No - i think the misconduct enquiry will ask - did we willfully plan it? The answer - No. Had we been playing Widnes, then quite possibly.

The only nagging doubt is to whether the 2 directors left because of it. If that's the case, then we knew about it and tried to keep quiet.

Your right - we fans need an explanation and then action taken to make sure this can NEVER happen again, some confidence needs restoring!

I don't get how Ostick did not fess up or realise he might be cup tied. Sorry but that strikes me as a bit dumb, most fans know, the lads cost Fax some brass and all over a player who I didn't think improved the team anyhow.

The main question for me now is how do the club, players and crowd react to this? Hopefully with a thumping of Barrow and a galvanising atmosphere to kick things off!

sorry to hear this news your club has had some tough times, however can someone explain to me why when hull fielded an ineligable player they got a fine and were allowed to continue in the competition, and you guys get kicked out.

A very dignified response from Mr. Steele in what is a very dark and costly day in the history of Halifax RLFC. I'm still gob-smacked by the whole event of this matter.

They wont fine Fax, they know quite well that most clubs are surviving on peanuts in the championship and any potential (hefty fine) could send the club under. A severe ticking off is what you will get, and no franchise sadly.

To ease the pain we'll take Royston Vasey, Scruffy Gleeson and Ben 'Pint' Black of your hands.

I think the gate at the next home game will show a significant reduction, even some hardcore fans are starting to say "... if the club are willing to treat the fans like this, with no formal statement... I may just give it a miss for a while..."
