Yes, they are playing second fiddle to amateur university sport. I've laid off The Seagulls but what a joke of a club this makes them look.

Plus, advantage full time team playing Friday evening after our boys have been at work. Should have been made to switch to The Shay on the Sunday. Joke

Our Sheffield correspondent Griff has confirmed that Friday night suites the sponsors better than a weekend fixture.
As they rely on sponsorship money more than supporters they care little about spectators wether their own or more loyal fans from other clubs who will find it difficult to get there.
This my friends is a club that is going full time, has no interest in the paying public be it venue or time.
Again I ask what is the point of Sheffeeald Eagles?

The problem is that only effects our boys. No one there to cheering them on might have an adverse effect on their performance.
It won't hurt Sheffield as they don't care about spectator revenue.

This fixture change doesn't affect me as much as many others as I get fridays off and will make a night of it but poor do for our first away game of the season that lots of fax fans won't be able to make it.

How has it only just come to light that the ground/stadium is booked for use by the university? The fixture list was released on the 18 October 2015, that's 3 MONTHS ago!!! Ineptitude of the highest order!!!

They will have known, but, by leaving it as late as possible inconveniences both supporters and players.
They play this pathetic game every season and the RFL let them get away with it.

Never mind the RFL, what do Fax have to say on the matter? Bradshaw Bellringer? Sheffield are a joke and this latest snub is the last straw. Let's hope Fax stuff them and nobody goes, Bentleyman apart!

We objected to the change when Sheffield requested it on the basis that their ground 'may' be unavailable. We objected again when they said it was unavailable, offering to play any time on Saturday, or on Sunday Evening. That produced the statement that the ground was unavailable because of University Fixtures. We explored the possibility of reversing the fixture but (a) that would have added to the high number of 'double headers' at the MBI Shay in the winter/early spring which is undesirable, and (b) we would extend our absence from Home in summer to 7 weeks, with no certain benefit as Sheffield may still want to play on Friday in June.

A Full-Time "Professional" Rugby Club begging for use of a university's facilities, its embarrassing for them.

So it would seem the Eagles want to play all their home games on Fridays. Right to their advantage that one in a predominantly amateur league. How are they allowed to get away with that?

And does that shed they are playing in even have floodlights?

Cheers for that. The situation is nothing short of embarrassing non the less.

Tubs and the Sheffield board are trying to create an intimate and exclusive atmosphere at their ground this coming season, don't knock it till you try it.

Its nothing to do with getting an advantage, it genuinely is to do with availability of the field. You'll find most Eagles fans are as annoyed as you are, especially the ones who have bought season tickets assuming it would be Sunday.
