So you were busy buying a pie when Barlow put his high shot in on Walton as retribution, Worrincey put his high shot on and Handforth did the same to Greenwood. Nice insult by the way, I am sure you look like an Armani model.

| Good old George bottled it, he obviously takes a more lenient view from last year and then they wonder why they get so much flack.
Anyway enough about him.
18 all on reflection a fair result.
We could say we through it away and we did but on the other hand Batley gave it to us on the Handforth and Miles dropped ball tries.
At 10 - 18 all we had to do was play out that attacking set and we were home but again both sides made mistakes that gave away tries.
Ste Tyrer had a poor game and made a few mistakes and he knows it and I think he will pay the price next game.
Strange really when he was left out for not showing enough pre season, then gets his chance back and takes it for 1 game but then switches off again.
In fact allthough we have a good big pack I think our centres are not aggressive enough, they need a bit more bite to complement the forwards.

Can I put tribal differences aside and make a rugby point here. I really thought that Murrell, who was excellent, brought the best out of Handforth, and he reminded me of when he played for us and controlled a game. Both were outstanding, and I suspect that they will devvelop into a very potent partnership throughout the season.

| Stokes ruined the game as both sides slowed the PTB down to Sleeping phase. The laying on from both sides got ridiculous. He ignored a deliberate Headbutt by Byron Smith and Swinging punches should have seen a red card for Smith and a warning if not a yellow card for Rowe. Instead Stokes bottled it. . Worrincy was just clumsy as usual. Handforth, Robinson and Barlow need to not get so worked up and give away silly penalties.
Fax were very good in defence, but attack is poor and Thackray is and never will be a decent halfback. Handforth and Murrell should be halfbacks as least do something. Thackray is just a headless chicken.Forwards made good metres again, but the hooking area is weak and Ashall offers nothing to suggest he will one day be a good Championship hooker. Tyrer was poor again and should be dropped. Happy with a draw, as expected a beating by 10-16 points. But we threw away the win. Why was we trying to throw 20 metre passes from a scrum in Batleys half with a couple of minutes left? Dumb footy cost us the win, not Stokes no matter how rubbish he was again!

That's the only way to go mate, what is the point of any thread deteriating into a slagging match
Murrell has definatley helped Tiger get back to his best, he takes a lot of the pressure that largely fell on Handforth last year with good organisation and kicking game.
I thought across the park both sides matched up pretty well, I just think if we had a bit more aggression in the centres that, (one miss timed tackle apart) a Walton type player brings we would have that much more go forward.
Players like Tyrer, Heaton, Patterson are too tame a lot of the times and too similar in their style of play to mix it up and upset the oppositon.

| head butt definate red.
game changed when murrell went off .
if he had been on the pitch still there is no way they would have tried 20 metre pass from scrum and game would have been won.

Whilst Tiger and Murrell are starting to click and having more of an influence on a game Thacks has not fitted into this system as well just yet.
I still feel across the season he will have his day, on the right pitches against the right oppostion.

| Sorry but for me Thacks is a cart horse. Did nothing last year to make me see different and so far this year hasn't either. I'd rather give a young unknown his shirt as he doesn't seem to have a clue. Handforth for me has come into his own this year and starting to show us why we signed him. But you can leave Thacks out every week for me. Handforth may be our blessing in disguise at hooker as neither Ashall brother look good enough at this level to be our hooker solution just yet sadly. If we get the halves right and the strike centre options then we should look pretty good. Tyrer will lose his spot once Rettie is fit I reckon as he looks off the pace and lacking creativity / confidence??

Having not seen the game yet, been out rocking the night away at a UFO gig in Holmfirth instead. Two things stand-out from the comments of posters who watched on tv or attended the game.
1. Byron aimed a headbutt at one of our lads.
2. Georgie Porgie was awful again.
It's obviously the ginners sticking together, horrible lot, always have a smell of fox-wee-wee about their person. Yuk !

| Think a draw was a fair result. Murrells kicking was as good a display as ive ever seen at the mount. Ambler was impressive but your line defence was awesome, we had a stack of possession on your line and couldn't convert, but i think the best thing last night was our never say die attitude, great game by two evenly matched teams.

| Thought I would wait before posting as I were gutted last night.
First time in a while Ive woke up gutted about a rugby game as well. For most of the game I thought we played pretty well and dominated for long periods so to throw it away like we did was awful.
We need a hooker and a half back. Its that simple. Our distribution from acting half is appalling and its a good job we have a good pack because we would struggle to get going forward the ball moves so slow.
I thought Fieldhouse went really well along with Worrincy before his injury. Sheriffe was steady at best as he has been. I didnt really notice Heaton and Tyrer but that no surprise as its very rare they touch the ball. Murrell is quality and was superb along with Handforth apart from that awful bullet pass to Tyrer. Ambler was good again and I thought Bracek, Tonks, Robinson, Divorty, and Manning went ok without been spectacular.
Im not sure what part Casey plays to be honest. He dosnt seem to add anything to the team and probably struggles because of the utility tag. Ashall has been pushed in at hooker because of mistakes made with pre season signings and its not working. He isnt a hooker and its painfully obvious to see. Time for KH to admit he made a mistake and maybe try something else. I was going to say maybe try Thackery at hooker as he should give a bit of spark around the play the ball but a hooker has to defend and Thackery cant tackle for toffee and again at this moment Im not sure what he brings to the team. Maybe give Casey a shot at hooker? He certainly has the defensive qualities for it.
That leaves Sam Barlow. I really do hope that he dosnt just turn in to a pantomime villain. At times last season he looked like the best forward in the league and you could see him playing in SL and then at the beginning of each season he just looks like he is stealing a wage and from one of the, if not the, top earner at the club we should expect a lot more than what he is giving at the moment. He needs to knuckle down and get back to where he were last season.

Fair post, toally agree about Barlow, at times he can be great but usually falls back into his penalty conceding way's. can't agree you dominated for long periods though, I thought our forwards had the measure of yours a I did think Ambler was outstanding last night. i spoke with Rettie during the game and was shocked to learn of his injuries from a horrific attack in Leeds, he's face has been partially rebuilt and he's hoping to be back in two weeks.
Just shows how brave these blokes are, good on him.

| That was our best performance of the season so far in the first half, tremendous and we started off in the second half well but got bogged down ans went back to one man drives until Tiger got that try, we then should have won it at 18-8 but stupidly threw a pass that was risky and gave them their 2nd try when we just needed to put pressure on Batley and keep them in their own half, why?
Our kicking game was good but what does Thacks offer, we went down hill when he came on. Scott Murrell needs to lose some weight as we need him for 80 minutes!
Batley turned the screw when they needed to after that lucky break when we gave them the ball although they got lots of possession when we tried to get the ball and knocked on twice, it could have been so different!
Fair result though I think we still have room for improvement, as others are saying our centres and hookers are our weak point.

| Yep i think we are all in agreement. Need some more creativity!! When is Craig Cook going to be fit? I completely agree on Casey and Thackeray, what do they bring to the team? The only time i see Casey is when he comes on the pitch and again when he goes off. Forwards were pretty solid but we need a centre and half back. We aren't that far away from being a good side. Im glad Barlow is back, yes he can give stupid penalties away but even in his first game back yesterday he looks like the most likely to break the line. How good is Fieldhouse at the back? He just doesn't drop a thing.
Very frustrating evening, i dont think i have been that annoyed after a game in a long time but heyho at least we are still unbeaten.

| harrison said before the game that barlow was in the team to do a job. he certainly did his job. took ball up well and wond up the batley players which should have resulted in one sent off and another binned. he gave away a silly penalty for pushing knees in face of player getting up after tackle but when batley player did that at end of first half and robinson took exception to it he had penalty awarded against him. good game but fax threw it away and if ref had balls it would have been very differant against 11 men for 10 mins and 12 for rest of game.

murrell went off injured and then fax made poor decisions. also says he lost a few teeth due to the high shot in first half.
