On Sunday after the Swinton game it was announced we would be making 3-4 more signings for next season , TBA very soon , Penky is probably the first .

Lets just wait and see with Penky - he is without doubt a quality player but if for whatever reason he wants a change then we have had many good years from him.

Ashall played ok at hooker on Sunday and although in the latter half of the season I feel his form as not been as good - he was stand out performer at the start. Also not sure where we stand on Casey but could he not play hooker, I thought he had a cracking game when he came on against Leigh the other week ....

He's 38. Good time to offload.

I predict however our squad next season will be far more formidable than this season. Having said that this season's squad wasn't too bad despite injuries and lack of depth.

We finished second not bad all things considered.

i feel this signing on saturday been a big one.

Top player, no doubt about it, but I don't want to get too excited just in case it doesn't happen (again)!

Matt it must be a tough call for him to make at this stage of his career and the fact that Fev are very keen as well add a bit of extra confusion to his mind.

Still think it will be Leigh.

I don't think money will come into it as a big factor.
In terms of playing strength nothing between the sides.
In terms of home ground with Leigh again he would lose nothing.
In terms of coaching KH is top drawer for us but Paul Rowley has really stood out obviously with the on field performnce but also when I have heard him talk about the game he just ouzes knowledge about it and makes so much sense and of course was an outstanding 9 himself.
Nearer to home and his family.

The big wrench will be to leave a club that he has made his home and that decision will not be an easy one.

It would seem it, as we only had 4 players on contract (3 of them kids) during our darkest days last October.

Would be sorry to see Penky go and thought he would have stayed to end his career here, but we have had his best years he is a bit more erratic than normal this season so provided we get a good and younger replacement I am okay with this.

If he is off hes off, but if he does go he has given excellent service to the club. He has looked a bit out of sorts lately and that is probably because he himself found it a hard decision what to do. You do get the feeling of the Fax club getting stronger all the time at the moment so it is a slightly surprising decision. We will just have to hope the replacement is as good and stays as long! If the replacement is better its a bonus.

Just hope all this talk of signings etc doesnt distract players minds tonight.

Just concerning replacements, I would like us to revert back to rotating the hookers, it just gives us that 'plan B' that we seem to have lacked at times this season. Ideally copying the partnership of Gleeson/Beswick and Penky we had a few years back - one player who will control the game and our play (possibly Handforth?) and one player who will tear up the oppositions defence.

Anyway, that's the last I'll say of it till the seasons over!

Yeah I wont hold anything against penky if he leaves at the end of the season, he has been very loyal over the years. If I put myself in his shoes I would sign for my hometown club aswell, why travel a couple of hours each day too and from training when you could go 10 mins down the road?

Wherever he ends up good luck to him. Fax legend.

If he does go then he goes with my best wishes as he has been far and away our best player of the last 5 years and argubly the best player in the Championship during that time.

Have a think of the games Penky has won us nearly single handedly. Or the times when he has either come onto the field as Sub or injected himself into the game with a spark of genius. He'll be a MASSIVE loss, I just hope he leaves Fax having lifted the Championship trophy aloft.

If he goes to Leigh he'll reunite with Beswick, and along with Brierley and Ridyard it's a VERY frightening prospect.
