Sad way for a Rugby League legend to end his career and trust it to be at Fax. It will all come out in the wash, it always does at Halifax.

Gene has won his case. Fax must pay up final 5 months of his year one contract.

Well it could have been worse.
Pay him off and that's it though once again it was a procedure that went wrong in the back office.
Come on Fax get things sorted as these are just embarassing incidents that could have been avoided.

Now its over I suppose we can talk about what happened. I heard that he stood up in a team meeting and told Calland that he was cr@p and demanded that he handed over the coaching position to himself there and then. I didn't take it seriously at the time but people have verified it since.

My understanding is that SG was signed as a player primarily but with Asst Coach responsibilities too. When MC was suspended SG was asked to takeover the coaching responsibilities and refused. Another major issue was his major bagging of the club (which he did personally - directly to me and several others in the bar after the Hunslet game)

I also understand that MC wanted each player to have their own (double) seat on the coach before and after a game to relax and wind down etc this season. SG would apparently take this opportunity to constantly make a nuisance of himself to MC and the players bemoaning the clubs supposed unprofessional set up.

Plus other stuff that I heard.

Lessons MUST be learned from this season it has been an anus horriblus from a administrational perspective.

Interesting to note it says the decision to overturn was because we did not follow the correct procedure (presumably the correct disciplinary procedure). It doesn’t say our decision to discipline was wrong.

I am told the reasons for discipline is that Stan allegedly failed to attend training and didn’t carry out the off field roles he was contracted to meaning other players had to cover for him (with no extra pay). And for what we supposedly were paying him, we could have got 3 decent Championship players.

Unsurprisingly, the morale and spirit of the team seem to lift significantly after he went.

I had a feeling Gene would win his case and says not for financial reasons?Quality, what a load of rubbish as nothing to do with his credability as they say.

You do not need this publicity, and anyway you will make the final.

That's what I took from the article also. Bar The Shay fortress burning down I don't think anything else bad could possibly happen to us this year!

Dont like passing negative comments about players such as SG but the rumours suggest that he was putting the club down all the time in public so goodbye and good luck to him, lets move on!
