wouldn't it be fairer if it was a set amount to "hire" the shay and each club paid the set amount each time they "hire" it ?

It's not about being "fair". It's about sticking to the contract that was agreed. When the contract period is up, then there should be no qualms about trying to negotiate a different rate.

Both teams should pay the same. Why should Fax get stiffed just because the football team went bust (again). Neither club is without sin or problems in their recent history but expecting the rugby club to pay more is not realistic. The council have pumped in millions of tax payers well earned money and therefore should be seen to be offering parity to both clubs IMO.

The Gayballers use the shay more than us so they should pay more...

Can you not see just how much has been provided for you, and is a MASSIVE plus towards Super League, yet you are refusing to pay what was agreed with the council?

It is well documented why the football club are currently paying less than the rugby, but no doubt that will increase now a stable infrastructure has been established, and especially if promotions are achieved. But WHY should this lead to the rugby club also reducing their rent? They are on the verge of the top division in the land, not some 8th tier "Dog & Duck" league, and the benefits of the new stand, if Super League is achieved, could be tremendous. So why alienate the council at this stage?

The thing that surprises me in all of this is that the SST (and any subsequent landlord) didn't arrange to have the option to increase the rent to Town once they had re-established themselves on a firmer footing - seems a good way to des-enfranchise any other tenants.

Quite honestly, I would expect something like that to be in place.

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, the board of the newly formed club really were entering unknown territory and this uncertainty was what enabled them to get a lower rent in the outset.

The Courier is such a load of crap and instead of trying to improve things it decides to create further problems. And with the Wendyballers I honestly hope they fail to get promoted and stay where they are. The fans do not deserve any success at all. They seem more interested in causing problems than supporting the club.
The SST was a joke and achieved nothing but causing further divisions between the 2 Clubs. The guy in charge should be ashamed as its clear it achieved nothing but make problems for everybody. The Council seriously needs to sort this problem out with Fax and the Soccer lot ASAP and get both paying the same. The Soccer fans need to sod off back to the hole they came from and stop causing problems on here and elsewhere.

Care to elaborate or are you just gonna throw wild criticisms? As far as I was aware the SST had representatives from both clubs and ran things in a way to keep the rent of the clubs as low as possible, thus, I might add, not going ahead with certain expenditure that the council now IS doing.
