I can't blame the club for trying to stir up enthusiasm for todays game but it backfired on us big time whilst Fev just got on with the job as they always seem to do, quiet achievers in lots of ways, for me today summed up what our club is, more spin than substance and at times it takes us fans for granted, even blaming us!
Yer we may not have the spending power of Leigh, Fev and whoever else people say have spent more than us this season but today was a bad day to be well off the pace and we were, so I have to ask why the club spend more time slagging off the opposition with 'they have spent more than us and they have bust the salary cap' and other stuff instead of just getting on with the job in hand?
FOCUS on us and let the rest sort itself out I say, stop blaming it on others playing the system, lets get back to basics and look at what we do eh? After todays effort we are STILL off the pace.

I get what you are saying here Fax` and I`m inclined to agree ,these last few weeks we have heard questions as to why fans have not been turning out in support and everyone had the question answered on the pitch today . They did not look to play with any heart or desire and to say the Club have marketed this game as their biggest in 20yrs or whatever did someone forget to tell the players ? Why oh why does this happen at our Club every time when we are asked to bring everyone and our grans down the fans turn up but the players don`t.
The players were all just too slow , need some speed about the team ,noone there to back up on the rare occasions we did break through many of them looking tired out too after only a few minutes .There was just no impetus or passion in the squad today and it`s the first time in a long time I`ve wished the match over.
No excuses today , the team were just not good unfortunatly and for all the people who turned up that we havn`t seen for weeks months and even years I`d like to thank them and hope they turn up again as we have played quite well for a few games .

According to sum clueless idiot (initials KH) on Radio Leeds, the players tried their hearts out today. That's why in 2003 I watched every game and today I lasted 36 mins before boredom and frustration drove me to bar where I chatted to 2 player sponsors and a diehard fans.

I love the sport and love the team but would rather watch paint dry than the e I've had to put up this season

The club would have been foolish not to have promoted today's game and the revenue from today will have really helped the finances. I wish they would promote every home game in the same way and create the level of excitement that they did today.
Today the game didn't go our way but realistically there will always be one winner and one loser. We might might have missed out on the £250000 but we have to start building our revenues and today showed that we can do it

Unfortunately not, cos for the 36 mins I was on terracing those we'd attracted definitely weren't coming back for a while and in the bar we had our hardcore supporters saying similar. Then we've got a governing body that has to produce an explanation of next seasons structure for it's existing fans.

Never been so pished off and frustrated with everything about the club and game. Really sad thing is I'll be at Donny cheering us on & still continue for many years to come

Second best today in every respect.
Never looked like getting even near to a result and it tells us where we are, 3rd at best, having lost every game against the top two there's no argument.
I bet many of us aren't too surprised that we lost but I for one am surprised by the gap that still exist between the top two and us.

I would say everyone agrees with the first half of your post however , I saw people down there today that I havn`t seen in some time and I would think a good many will not be back . It`s such a shame for the Club ,fans and players as for the last few matches they seemed to have turned a corner.

I was thinking something similar, over 3000 there today for the first time in a long time.
Fev of course were well supported but against Barrow in 3 weeks time it will be nearer 1000, they won't bring many and there will be a lot of home support that will likely stay away.

1,300 at Leigh today. That's how hard it is. Things may change next year with the new comp but clubs still have to work really hard to get the fans in. It's a struggle.

If clubs find it hard in this league how do clubs run a pro team in champ 1 on crowds of a few hundred We complain but I'm glad my club isn't one of the 5 going down

It was a good crowd today as that was the least Fev have brought for years I guess 500 tops so we had 2500 home supporters and we blew it!
Sad day today we went back to that early season stuff, Fev knew we would not score 4 tries so just wound the clock down second half.

I saw nothing different in the Halifax team performance yesterday that i saw Vs Leigh for the last 50 or so mins of that game & for many other games prior to that in the last 18 months. I was really looking forward to this fixture & getting the result that would make the run in to the season's climax. Those are the things that will prevent me from attending again. Four of the b.o.d. know my feelings on the matter, one of the coaching staff also knows my feelings & views.
This is the least passionate Halifax RLFC team i can recall watching in my 40+ years. I'm not bothered if folks want to blame the coach, the patterns or styles of play, the referee or whatever. We were never in that game yesterday, where was the fight ? the mongrel ? the change of tactics ? There was nothing there.
As i've stated many times before, i have a lot of respect for Mr Steele, Mr Riley & Mr McNamara having got to know them through the years & seen at first hand the work they put in when i was on the club staff, but they are being badly let down by players on the pitch.
There was a rumour doing the rounds that someone from Fev had offered their players a grand per man bonus to win yesterday, they turned up in indifferent form with a patched up team and still beat us.
I didn't enjoy the match experience yesterday & won't be returning unless thing improve.

You seem to have some real problems at the top with understanding why players chose Leigh over Fax this season. I will list a few 1. Ambition - players were told what the vision was and how we get there 2. The coach - they liked what they were sold 3. Facilities - perfect pitch and training facilities on site to match
The end result was a very close, young squad that was trimmed as the season progressed, the youngsters stepped up allowing some old heads to depart to pastures new. The cost was below the £400k granted, and we have so far secured £525k in prizemoney on gates up 40% with record commercial income and all those players have secured 2 year or longer FT contracts - we are bringing in 3 players, two are already here, for next year, no major surgery for the next leg of the journey and spirit you cant buy

Which players "chose" Leigh over Fax? As far as I'm aware two had contracts that ran out and weren't offered new ones and one was a trouble causing who was shipped out on loan before ending up at Leigh. Hardly "choosing" that. Don't hurt yourself when you fall off that high horse.

The question for Fax is why did we let them leave and replace them with worse? Whose decision was that?

I don't think you give your team enough credit for their second half display. I thought we (Fev) were really under pressure at times in the second half and it took two last-ditch tackles (one of them by M.o.M. Sharp) to prevent you closing the score. Two seasons ago my top memory was Featherstone defending six sets on our own line at The Shay and yesterday it was the defensive effort of the second half that again impressed, possibly our best this season.
