| Yes, well done to all involved & proud of son No.2 skippering the side. For those who aren't aware, I think almost all of the lads are eligible to play next year too. Into the national cup next week at the quarter finals stage I think as a result of tonight's victory.

I was chatting to Lee Greenwood on tuesday & he was telling me there a few withdrawals from the selections he'd gone with in the original line up, so even more of an achievement f that meant a slightly weakened team ( although i wasn't privvy to who or what they were ). Congratulations to all concerned especially the players, coach & i understand there was quite a lot of support travelled to cheer them on. Good 'photo of son No.2 with the trophy too

| Good luck tomorrow in the national final at the Stobart lads, i'm looking forward to this game.
I understand the England students squad is announced tomorrow as well & there's likely to be quite a few of both the Calderdale college side & Fax reserves amongst the squad.

The boys had to do it tough on the big stage, spewing far too much possession up throughout the whole of the match. The attacking quality is evident but playing without the ball for long periods they had too much defending to do on this occassion unfortunately.

| Good luck to FOUR of the current Halifax RLFC U/20's who have made it into the England colleges team to play against the regional academies team at Cas Panthers tomorrow afternoon. Ryan Kelsey & Brad Hill ( son of Brendan ) start in the pack & Callum Dunne & son No.2 Jake Smith are both on the bench. Recently released from Halifax Dom Horn starts at centre & former Siddal junior Tom Garrett also starts at prop. A decent representation of the local district & some very proud families, just another excuse for me to miss a Halifax match I suppose

Very best wishes to Jake tomorrow you've got two good Rugby sons, if I wasn't riding (not walking) to Dewsbury I would go and watch.
Colin the news you gave me today, could you please pass my thoughts on to Duncan.
Best wishes.

Colin, how did they do?
Did Jake get a game, I know you said he is carrying an injury.
Why was Dom Horn released?
We had a conversation earlier this season about Danny Fletcher, man of the match a few weeks ago for Batley, is he another who his slipped through our net?

Danny Fleming, John. As far as I'm aware he's contracted to Cas but plays at Batley. IIRC he made his senior Welsh international debut before playing a full SL game or something like that. He was on Fax's books a couple of years ago for a couple of years, looking at his progress he's probably just a late developer, certainly physically, he's a big lad nowadays. He certainly had a bright future and his talent is un-questionable when he was at KXP in their junior system & best of luck to the kid. All this "slipped through the net" always baffles me, there's lads in every club throughout the country from out of town as we call it. If a coach of a team doesn't like an individuals contribution, wage packet, attitude or whatever he'll just allow him to move on somewhere else, some other coach will come along & see if he can mould a bloke into something he wants, it's no real drama with me nowadays.
I did smile the other week when Ryan Rocky Hampshire debuted for Wigan on tv at Widnes, he's been at Wigan for a few years although still only 18 but he's most definately a Normanton kid, how must Cas, Fev, & Wakey feel about him slipping the net ? Still, he'll always be remembered as one of Shaun Wane's youngsters of 2013....
If they hadn't so many injuries, would he have got a go so soon though ? Albeit, he's been an international for the last 2 or 3 years at academy level.
Jake got on at about 20mins mark, played dummy half, scored a try continued there until HT. Played the whole of the 2nd half at stand off & went very well as did the rest of the Fax lads. He's unavailable tonight for the reserves with an ongoing injury that is being treat by the club.
Dom Horn is currently training with Siddal open age & ex-Fax forward Richard Mervill ( you might have seen him in the gym we both use ) also turned out for them on saturday.

| Well done to both Calderdale college sides on reaching the Yorks cup semi's for the second consecutive season with quarter final wins last week. I think they've drawn each other in the semi final so that should be interesting ! I watched the 1st team beat Kirklees last week in muddy conditions down at Heath RUFC & the lads were in control until the HT break when our old friend and match referee for the day Ian McGregor came over to chat with me during the break then the 2nd half performance slipped slightly with some slack defence & a few unnecessary penalties.
Ben Black was coaching the visiting team too.
Good luck for the semi's & final to both teams.
