I've just been looking at the shaymen.net forum and noticed a thread entitled Shay and Hoddie.... It is referring to a working party of six, mostly Town fans as far as i can see, who have been in talks regarding the running of The Shay and have been having discussions since July. It's the first i've heard of this, i wonder if anyone on here has any knowledge of it?

First i'd heard too when the Courier broke the news this morning.All Town fans,who've certainly been keeping their powder dry.

As some of you may now be aware from the statement released on the Courier website, (and attached below) a working group got together in July to start to look at how the long term future of the Shay Stadium could be safeguarded both as a sporting venue and a community asset. I was very pleased to have been invited onto the working group and a lot of work has gone into getting to where we are now.



Discussions have taken place with the Council, Football and Rugby clubs and initial reactions on the whole have been favourable.



We are still very much at the early stages and whilst it is of course up to yourself if you believe this is the best way forward, we hope as many fans as possible of both the football and rugby clubs feel that they can support this proposal which would add significant weight to progressing with the parties involved.



There will of course be many questions. I believe the Courier will be inviting readers to put forward any questions they may have. I am also happy to collate any questions you may have to forward to the working group for a response.

Just got this email from Simon Denton-Treasurer of Halifax Town supporters club.

So is this just a revamp of the old Shay Stadium Trust or whatever is was called in the past - seems to involve some of the same people. How did that work and end up? I suspect its an opposition to an alternative consortium rumoured to be interested. We might also need to accept that if you want investment, you can't accept that businesses or individuals will keep doing so with no possible return for themselves, but at the same time enabling revenue streams for both clubs - if they want to be on board (even if that is % of income form other events/activities).

Hoddie can't even run his own forum impartially , anyway I will be emailing the Council the transcripts from his forum, expose his real feelings on the rugby club , squatters out and all that .

See the footy's been called off for a waterlogged pitch and rearranged for Saturday the 4th , hope them twiglet footy lads don't churn up the pitch for saltys testimonial. Hopefully the heirs to the throne hoddie and bubba are doing everything they can to make sure this doesn't happen

If you are a regular visitor to theshaymen.net forum, you will know that over the years I have stuck up for Fax in relation to the pitch use. It is fair to say the pitch isnt fit for use, but thats not the fault of Fax or FCHT. Its the nature of dual use and a lack of investment in the pitch over many years.

I never go on there and never will but by your own admission it just goes to show over the years regarding the pitch how much abuse and unfair blame Fax and their supporters have had to put up with past, present and no doubt future from those on the shaymen.net forum and what sort of people they really are and when someone puts a game or a piece of grass before people where the biggest problem is.

I've noticed in the recent few discussions on there that you have remained quiet , unfortunately you have been party to the ongoing vitriol against the rugby club , I would probably say that that forum is an example of how to stir up hatred against an organisation , a mix of uneducated unchallenged nonsense where every fault of the rugby club is examined with a microscope and filled out with false narrative bs , yet all the sins of the footy club are conveniently overlooked .There's a reason why that forum is a closed forum , because if was public it would be shut down imminently. Anyone connected to that forum should have no involvement in the running of the shay, I would advise you to fall on your sword before you even consider unsheathing it for battle.

1) You are incorrect. Yes, I may have spoken out over the years about the conduct of those running Fax, but regardless I am pro-Halifax Panthers and the value they bring to the town. There is a difference between the two...just as I am pro-FCHT but against the current owner.

2) Any 'unchallenged' nonsense, can be challenged!

3) Yes, you need to register to use the forum, as you do this one. This was due to an avalanche of spam-users a number of years ago. Even if it was 'public' who would shut it down and for what reasons? Registering is available to anybody so I am at a loss to what you are on about.

4) I am not sure what my involvement with the forum has in connection to the working party. I can back up my past in relation to the Shay and the value I believe it has to the local community, which is hugely influenced by having two solid/successful sporting teams as tenants. If people dont like me or things I have said in the past or future, fine. Its not a popularity contest. I know with Fax fans, my reputation (if I had one) was tarnished with the Tony Abbott affair, for which I was proven right. That wasnt due to any negative feeling towards the rugby club. As for 'unsheathing it for battle', I dont have a clue what you are on about.
