Quote ="The Dors"But all that ever comes up is that they still have one and we no longer do. It's alright everyone going on about widnes doing themselves an injustice on the pitch, but when it comes to talk of licences they have everything else. Even the finances to self-support even if the unthinkable happens and they find themselves getting panned for a couple of seasons.
That's why they're going up.'"
They're doing exactly what the RFL require - aided by the money brought by SOC. They know that what happens on the pitch doesn't really matter. Having a Northern Rail winners trophy doesn't translate into on-field success, (and neither does having a GF appearance, before anyone jumps on my back). But we know all this and deep down we know that Widnes are the only club currently outside SL who could compete in SL. What riles me is how the game has dismissed the importance of on-field matters and in turn, dismissed the very validy of The Championship competition. Featherstone are the best performing team this year but no-one is giving them a second thought because they're not SL material. We should be talking about Fev and how we can try and overcome their dominance this year but we're not. We're talking about youth policies, terracing and box ticking. We're talking about the crazyness of a club in seventh position being the only viable candidates for "promotion".
