a) His injury record – who would play 6 if he gets injured? Not that unlikely considering previous injuries.
b) His best position is at hooker, he is OK at 6 but not the best in the division by any stretch.
c) He doesn’t dictate the game as Holroyd did and produce the tactical kicks that can turn defence into offence. I think Briers would provide this additional option to the team and having 2 quality players compete for the shirt would improve the squad.
d) Players of this quality aren’t always available – so you have to get them when you can.
If the opportunity came along to sign Briers and we could afford him I would snap him up. Briers and Black could be lethal. People are too quick to believe hearsay about a player. Holyroyd changed our season when he arrived – the best teams always look to strengthen when they can.
