I'm not sure that Trump knew what he meant by saying that or, that it was America's Independence Day.
They certainly got a result against all odds but, they haven't gained any independence and they haven't made an exit from anywhere.

Enhance the infrastructure, build roads, rail, schools, hospitals cant be a bad thing
Drive out corruption cant be a bad thing
Letting people who shouldn't be there know cant be a bad thing
Create more work for blue collar workers in the rust belt cant be a bad thing
Encourage US companies to return by lowering corporate tax cant be a bad thing
Simplifying tax cant be a bad thing

It's not about him making a whole host of promises, it's whether he is actually going to implement or, succeed with many of them.
The gut was talking out of his backside for most of the campaign and saying the first thing that came into his head.

Now, he is supposed to deliver on his agenda and we'll see what the next 4 years brings.

Driving out corruption is a beauty though, for a guy who, himself, managed to avoid paying much tax.

The funniest thing since the election is seeing the idiots who voted for him - to jail Hillary, end Obamacare and get Mexico pay for a wall - watch him weasel out of those promises and he hasn't even started the job yet!

I'm not sure that they do lie to the extent that Trump did. In fact there were studies done during the election that proved this.

It may have been the same old but a politician as experienced as Clinton knows what the system can and can't deliver for people. Interestingly it was reported widely, that Trump was amazed at just how much work the job entailed and how complex it is, when he met Obama.

When people listen to the simplistic solutions offered by the likes of UKIP and Trump, to difficult problems like immigration, do they not consider that if it was so simple it would have been done before?

Trump is already starting to understand that being a politician is a lot harder than he thought it might be. And so will the idiots who voted for him. He won't last four years.

The Brexit and Trump campaign were quite similar in some respects.

Tapping into the fears of the "ordinary man in the street", blaming immigrants for "taking all our jobs" and playing on peoples fears.
What is alarming is the hatred that both of these characters have stirred up within the people of these 2 nations, something that will take a lifetime to bring back to where things were pre election.

Although there is little doubt that this type of campaign has won many votes, it's a dangerous path to tread and people should show compassion for their fellow man and not be finding groups of people to hate or to blame.

It took decades to bring Europe together after the 2 world wars and for the Berlin Wall to fall but, the solution for Farage and Trump is become insular within their own country (ironic as both of them have married "foreigners"icon_wink.gif and become more and more insular.
