| I seem to recall that King James I/VI was a very understanding and educated man who had (supposed) witches hanged (a handful burned) up and down the land. As it happens I did'nt vote for Brexit but will say in support of the millions who did and, at least in the Referendum, prevailed, that labelling them collectively as uneducated racists is in itself, at best, unenlightened. Which form of democracy does Lebron favour? Perhaps a different signature might be advisable, KJ? Then again, it's a free country.

| Quote ="Lebron James"This past week has been hilarious! People actually believe, sorry, 17 million uneducated racists believe we could just leave the EU based on a poll, sorry, referendum and then when 3 judges abide by constitutional law, the racists are in uproar. Even the likes of the daily mail didn't understand the process. Some random tweet summed it up
Racist: we want our democracy back
3 high court judges: there you go
Racist: not that democracy

Don't worry, he's not known for his intelligence.
In fact, anyone supporting open borders & freedom of movement across 28 countries with such massively uneven economies should give their head a wobble. It was always a moronic concept.
And anyone who has actually listened to the leaders of the EU Commission and still wants us in the disaster called the EU wants shooting.

The free trade is excellent, free movement, whilst of at the outset of the EU, is clearly not sustainable and had to be dealt with.
Is extracting our country the right way forward ?
In the short-medium term, we have voted for a period of economic instability and for any business, this is never a good thing, which ultimately will mean a further squeeze on welfare spending, again.
Unraveling 40 years of "closer union" was never going to be a simple process, with the Bexitiers all wanting different things.
At least with debate in parliament there should be some indication as to what we actually want from the process but, we still appear to have isolated our country from the rest of the world and in a time of economic and political uncertainty, this is akin to an own goal.
I have yet to hear anything apart from political hot air and rhetoric that will be truly positive for the future of the UK.
Scotland will vote again on leaving the UK, the situation in Ireland (between north and south) is an utter mess and Wales just doesnt have sufficient muscle to do anything, other than tag along for the ride.
So, taking aside the free movement aspect, where do you see the benefit for the UK.

| What "constitution" do we have in this country?
Where is it WRITTEN?
To whom is the executive answerable to?
Is the Department of Justice the one that controls the courts, and also part of the executive?

Most sane people don't want to stop immigration you wally. And that means the majority of the 17 million you branded as racists. It clearly needs to be controlled though which it very clearly isn't being right now. There is far more to wanting to leave the EU than just immigration anyway that i'm personally sick and tired of going into at this point, the whole Brexit thing it's getting very tiresome.

I don't know? Why don't you tell me? It's irrelevant anyway. Immigration is driven by economic growth and labour demand not population control. Switzerland aren't in the EU and look at their net immigration.
Tldr: leaving the EU will have little or no impact on immigration

Quite simply without control of your borders you have no control of your population , therefore it is impossible to have control of the services you need to provide
I couldn't care what Switzerland do or don't do , they are irrelevant

Is the burden on our services (NHS, Education, housing etc) caused by EU immigration or by austerity measures implemented over the past few years, or maybe a bit of both?
As LebronJames said, leaving the EU will have little or no impact on immigration. This is because, as he says, immigration will be determined by economic forces. The Australia 'points system' is a prime example. They actually have a higher rate of immigration than us.

Also, there is a strong possibility that, all we are going to do (post Brexit) is swap some EU immigration for a higher level of immigration from outside the EU.
We have had "control" of immigration from ourside the EU but, there were around 300,000 people came to the UK last year from outside Europe.
Farage and his pals hoodwinked the majority of the population by promising control, without actually saying how this would be done and they believed him !
There is an issue with mass migration, which was never considered at the outset of the EU, when it was 5/7 nations with similar "standing" and fee movement wasn't an issue whatsoever.
However, the current situation does need some work and whilst the EU has been far too slow to act, there is little doubt that there needs to be a change.

Wouldn't that depend on how many people are in good well paid jobs and therefore paying plenty of tax?
At present it is difficult for the country to sustain its population because so many people are in poorly paid jobs with zero hours contracts etc and therefore are forced to rely on the state.
Immigration has a net positive outcome for the country because most of them work and pay tax.
Quite how voluntarily voting for a period of economic instability and further job loss will benefit the country is beyond me. The Brexiteers have yet to come up with any real plan for how the country is going to get better.
I strongly suspect that most of them realise that the referendum was a false outcome because a great many people (certainly more than 2%) voted out because they thought that the health service was going to benefit greatly from leaving. Now that it has become clear that the NHS will actually be cut further under May many of those would vote Remain if there was a vote today.
Personally I think we should accept the result but I think the bluster of many of the Brexiteers hides the fact that none of them have a clue about what the country should look like, other than 'less foreigners'.

Maybe simple maths. Referendum being quite tight I doubt every Brexit voter chose out on immigration and it is a reasonable assumption remain voters didn't mind the current immigration process. Result - majority
I'm sure you are going to drop in a pie chart to prove this assumption wrong, unlikely though, I suspect.
Over to you, Bamber

Wouldn't these highly skilled people be better staying and improving their own countries ?
I do find the argument that we saw during the referendum debate that we need cheap labour to work the fields to produce food a strange one , so essentially some are ok to import what is essentially slave labour as long as their fruit and veg remains cheap in the supermarket

What a stupid comment to make. Reminds me of the Stewart Lee routine about immigration and a comment Paul Nuttall made (he's a right wing nutter from UKIP), which you've quoted pretty much word for word unfortunately.

There is a valid point here.
If any country loses all of it's "best talent" how will it prosper or, should it wait to be "helped" by it's wealthier friends.

Nobody mentioned "all".
It's down to freedom and an individual being able to be as much of a success as they can be in their chosen industry, by moving to where the best jobs are.
It's a stupid comment because you can't fully fulfil and exploit a persons talent if there isn't the job or resources for them to do so. Prosperity is driven more by government policy, economics, entrepreneurs etc. A highly-skilled person could utterly waste their talent & their earning potential, all because someone simplistically thinks that a country keeping their best talent automatically makes that country better. They'd just sit there & rot.
