| Any examination of UKIP's economic policy boils down to one thing: "If we stopped paying the EU, we'd be quids in".
That's it, nothing more

Its what a private market would do?
Or do UKIP live in some leftist fantasy that roads should be free at the point of delivery and paid for out of general taxation so that those that work the hardest are penalised for their hard work by paying the most, whilst the feckless and lazy pay little but can drive around the roads as much as they want?'"
Business needs good infrastructure. Business would like to rig the market so that infrastructure is paid for out of taxation, rather than the businesses themselves fund it.

I'd charge more for those who damage the roads most.
i.e. Weight x Distance.
It's not cars that crush those wheel-tracks into the wearing surface and substructure on motorways.

The only problem there is that everyone still pays, if you put a higher levy on HGV's (as already happens) then those levy's will not come from profits they'll just get added to the end user prices and there is nothing that anyone can do about it for EVERYTHING that is sold in a shop or even online gets transported on the roads.

It went something like...
Conservative - Nope
Labour - Who the hell is he ?
LibDem - Heard of him, he's the one who likes beer
Alan Proctor - sorely tempted, the local nutter who puts cctv inside his wheelie bin to find out who's putting their rubbish in it instead of him, sorely tempted, the nutter who was persecuted by the BNP members next door (according to him) and then got a police caution for putting cctv in a tree in his garden so he could watch what they were plotting next, I almost put a tick in his box, I should have done, I will do the next time I promise.
Late edit : just found this page [urlhttp://www.yournextmp.com/seats/leeds_north_west[/url poor old Alan got well thrashed by his next door neighbour

True ... and I'm not sure of the extent, how much extra it would cost or even whether it's worth the effort of change but, at the moment, road transport of goods is subsidised.
What I am saying would mean that road miles as part of the true cost for food and consumer goods would be more accurately costed-in and be better reflected in the price at the supermarket or delivery charges than is the case at the moment.
The consumer could then decide whether to buy or not whereas, at the moment, they pay anyway.
p.s. I am not supporting the view that tolls should be introduced, just that, if they are, the opportunity will arise to eliminate that subsidy.

| I thought UKIP's biggest masterstroke was getting a free 1 hour party political broadcast on primetime BBC1 last night, under the title 'Motorway Cops'.
A drunken, gormless looking Polish van driver, that bladdered that he actually p!ssed himself....Groups of impoverished, weasley looking Romanians roaming our road networks, stealing all our cables....All capped off with the coppers saying how this type of crime never existed until the last 10 years, which happily coincides with the opening up of the UK borders to any Tom, Dick and Harry from the wonderful Euroland....
Farage and his crew must have been sat at home thinking all the Christmasses had come at once!!...

An entirely valid point. The argument could be made that, for 30-odd years, to some extent or other, big business and big finance have been in power.

What does democracy mean - the will of the majority?
For a start <70% of those eligible to vote did so of those - of those only 10.7m voted for the Tories so 36% of those that i.e. 36% of 65% turnout giving 24% of the total eligible to vote - hardly the will of the majority?
Are you suggesting bigger business should be ignored?
I am sure you liked it more when the likes of Jack Jones and Gormley told Harold what to do - more your cup of tea!!

Yet your mates in government and the idiot in charge of London, would like to ignore a trades union strike decision unless a majority of the members, not the voters, decide to strike.

Agreed - although I would say London is a better place without Ken and his cronies on ridiculously high salaries - typical high up lefties!! all for the people, once they are suitably looked after - it would be funny if it weren't so sad.
On unions - the only thing I don't like is non-union members being expected to follow whatever the union has decided and being called scabs because they defy a decision that they had no part in. If you are a member and you don't vote that is your own fault and you should abide by the decision.
