| If things are looking bad for de Pfeffel he can always call on his cabinet of clowns to step into the fray and make fools of themselves. We had useless yesterday telling people to just buy value brands and good old Nadine who suggests that to be PM you need to always be honest and transparent in what you do.

They're gaslighting constantly now.
Every single thing they and their supporters do now is about getting one over on 'the libs' and winding people up. They simply don't talk about policy or the consequences of their policies. It's so pathetic really that a European conservative party has imported this stuff direct from the Republicans in the US. It won't end well for them I feel - although the voter suppression/dog whistle and authoritarianism is deeply concerning because they're actually getting some of that enacted.

He does lack some of the PM's charisma but, surely, repetitive truth beats constant lies.
It's a problem with modern society, style over substance and just like dodgy "car salesmen" some people keep getting taken in. It's a real shame

Imagine actually thinking that you don't like a candidate for Prime Minister because he's not entertaining enough. There's a weird personality cult around Johnson which is hard to fathom. Freud would have a field day with some of his fans.

Could not agree more, I'm just comparing them not defending him, as for dodgy car salesman, the less said the better about him the better, gets far too defensive.

I'm not worried about Starmer in either direction.
He is most certainly a different character to our current PM (understatement).
Johnson has more flannel than Dunelm.

Never looked to closely at his preferred attire, I thought that flares were a 70's thing.
He can certainly talk the talk but, delivery is a problem for him.
It's just blah, blah, blah.
The interest rate rise is a nice cherry on the cake in his quest to deal with the economic crisis.
Expected 10% inflation by the end of the year and interest rates rising at their fastest level for 20 years and the ecconomy now predicted to shrink in 2023
it's all going so well.

The only time that Johnson has actually apologised was saying "sorry" multiple times during his Peppa Pig speech. He starts with "I would like to apologise...." and then never actually says sorry.

Sorry Chis.
Rather than (alleged) flare, he'd be better off swallowing the truth pill and doing something meaningful about the cost of living crisis.
10% inflation, plus interest rate hikes will certainly make the public sector pay settlements interesting.
As usual, the MP's will be ok but, the rest will be expected to accept 2% if they are lucky.
Expect the "we're all in this together" nonsense coming out again.
Strikes in the Autumn anyone ?

| I noted that when asked about the cost of living crisis he offered nothing but to suggest we have to lump it but when those high skilled high paid jobs come along everything will be ok. What an absolute waste of a human he is, stuff the less fortunate but yet sadly many will still believe him.

Symbolic wins is now looking like the strap line.

Well, with public sector wages having been suppressed for the last 10+ years and raging inflation, there will be some pretty disgruntled staff.
They will either move on or perhaps feel the need to take action and yes, unions do still exist.

There were/are two things I was looking for in the Labour performance:
What happens in Scotland, recovery there is absolutely fundamental to them becoming largest party in the next parliament. We'll see later.
Then there's the so-called Red Wall. If these areas behaved like they did in the 2019 General Election Labour would be losing lots of seats. As it stands they seem to have held up pretty well which is comforting for them to a degree - replayed in a General they would win quite a few seats back.
Overall the best Labour can aim for is still to be the largest party in the Commons next time. Given how toxic the Tories are they should then be able to cobble together a confidence/supply arrangement with LDs, SNP, SDLP and Alliance.
The Tories have lost something like 20% of the seats they were defending which is pretty calamitous really. The real winners are the Greens, and especially the Lib Dems The latter is important as many gains have come at the expense of the Tories in affluent places where that party's English nationalism is not a good sell.

If I was one of your lot I would not be interested in any other parties performances only that of my own which for you is the Lib Dems, shouldn't you be worried about your own party going very close to extinction instead of worrying what's happening in Scotland where clearly most of them don't want to be part of the UK.
