| Quote ="Hull White Star"Not according to Wiki "Pikelet, an alternative name for a crumpet" & "In England, there is also a regional variant of the crumpet called the pikelet. It is usually made from the same batter as a crumpet, but the way in which it differs from a crumpet varies from place to place. In some parts of England (for example in the Midlands, around Wolverhampton) a pikelet is simply a crumpet without holes. In other parts (for example, Lancashire) it has holes, but is wider, thinner and more irregular than a crumpet because it is made without being restrained by a mould, and so spreads in the pan (or griddle) while cooking.[5"

i'm sure they are different things...if you pop into MnS you'll find they are! I love both but think of pikelets as flattened crumpets ( I know they aren't really!)
On the same topic...why is it warburtons crumpets are simply better than any others?
Finally...to the OP...congrats on a thread with great potential, lets hope it doesn't get ruined! I'll go and read the next few pages now and discover it has!

Back to Robinsons question...why do crumpets take so long to brown/toast?

Or possibly because your idiot flatmate left the door to the baby (<1 year) beardie's vivarium open and he managed to escape, only to be pursued by various cats with only the dog to protect him?

I know this doesn't apply to you Cornish (or me, or any responsible dog owners for that matter) but why do people scoop the poop, bag it and then hang it on the nearest tree or bush? If you've gone to the trouble of bagging it, take it with you or bin it ffs
Enjoy the beach with Molly

| Quote ="Goochie"Why do some people pull onto a motorway, and without even approaching another car move into the middle lane, and then completely regardless of the road conditions around them, stay in the middle lane?
And also, why do some drivers (usually in an Audi or BMW) think that when changing lanes with a car on the inside or outside of them, they don't have to use their indicators because other drivers will just get out of the way for them?
Finally. Do the Super League Stobart lorries exist?'"
I've just got back from Beijing, frankly I'll never worry about cars in wrong lanes ever again.

Fair enough, but people around here tend to leave it at the bottom of lamposts and when I asked someone one day why they did that they said because they know someone from the council will pick it up!, very annoying.
Glad Molly enjoyed the beach, I dread to think what the East Coast will be like tomorrow and Sunday, packed down like sardines
We're only doing one walk a day, first thing cos its too warm for them.

Please don't take this as a definitive answer but I'd guess it has something to do with moisture content.
