| It must be getting so difficult to defend de Pfeffel because the number of crisis mount daily for his government. It makes you now quote Ukraine for the reason to ignore his actions, before that it was the pandemic but however you look at it he lied to Parliament and if he had any scruples he would resign and take Sunak with him.

You lot got absolutely furious that time Diane Abbott had a drink on a train yet don't want to get bogged down in the "fluff" of the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer being fined for breaking their own laws

Maybe, if he'd used the "fluff" defence at the outset, instead of telling lies in Parliament, he may have had some credibility left.
As things are, he told Parliament and the world's media that "the guidelines (that he set) had been followed at all times".
Are you happy with the PM not telling the truth.
Just think, if he will go to such lengths to hide the "fluff", what skeletons does he have in the proverbial closet ?

| The Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice group says that it is unbelievably painful that while families couldn't comfort each other at funerals, the prime minister and chancellor broke the rules.
Matt Fowler, co-founder of the group, says: "There you have it - it's now indisputable that whilst bereaved families were unable to be at their loved ones' sides in their last moments, or stood at their funerals alone, the people responsible for protecting us in Downing St were partying and rule-breaking en masse.
"It's a reality that is unbelievably painful for bereaved families like mine to face as we try and move forward with our lives."
In a tweet, the group says Johnson told them in person: "We did everything we could to save your loved ones."
It now says those were "hollow words in the same garden rules were broken".
Tragedy is that both Lyin Boris and Lil Rishi will pay top lawyers handsomely to appeal this to circumvent their own laws, sickening

Interesting take.
As a point of principle, should deliberately telling porkies in Parliament lead to a resignation or, should those who make our laws, be allowed to please themselves and spout lies whenever they feel it helps their cause.
Also, how on earth can you trust such a compulsive liar or, is it "just politics".

Actually to be accurate Keir Starmer has only asked for de Pfeffel resignation once before but the fact that the ministers in the government have been found to to have broken protocols which would usually result in automatic resignation. The fact they didn’t like Pritti for example with her bullying does not make it correct. I bet even you could think of at least one occasion when de Pfeffel lied in Parliament which would normally result in his resignation.

| I was watching the news break on sky news and they kept repeating themselves with excitement.
My missus said is this really a story. I felt the same.
I get you can’t break the law but a couple of pints in your back garden with workmates isn’t going to excite me.
Fixed penalty notice, something similar to having a lag in a bush on your way home from a night out and a copper feeling your collar.
Let’s move on

A conversation with "your missus" as if this validates your view Deary me, you'll need better talking points than this to weather the storm.

| The problem he faces is that the way the government set up the system there is no right of appeal other than to refuse to pay, be summoned and then appeal. If he pays then he admits it was a party and he lied to Parliament but if he doesn’t pay goes to court he could receive a criminal record and will have to resign.

They're never going to appeal. He's more guilty than Mick Cassidy's forearm.
No they will try and shamelessly bluster through it like they always do whilst holding everyone else to a ridiculously high standard in comparison.
Expect a big and unexpected policy announcement in an attempt to bury it for a few days and then the TDL on here can switch to the "this is old news" line.

| No not wishful thinking on my behalf maybe you hope so but it is actually a fact which I know de Pfeffel is a stranger to. I suppose when you are in denial of what is obvious then I would suggest silence is probably the better option rather than to admit how gullible you are in defending the indefensible. I ask do you believe de Pfeffel lied to Parliament or are the Police wrong to consider them parties.
I also have nothing to fear but having done jury service on two separate occasions I do know a bit about the workings of the court system.

| All that crime going unsolved in London, the Met Police say they are overwhelmed and grossly understaffed, understandable I suppose, so it's really comforting that at least they've come out with some success not to mention lowering the crime rate in the capital solving the problems of these private parties in Downing St and Westminster, well done the Metropolitan Police Force you really sunk your teeth into that and deserve the praise you'll receive, especially from some on here
