Baroness Warsi is another of the 'big mistakes' made by the Cameron regime in the Tory party.

A few years ago she was rated as a potential huge asset for rebranding the Conservative party, they saw her as a confident and assertive woman from an ethnic minority who would be good in front of the cameras, similar to how Labour have high hopes for Chuka Ummuna as a black Obama-esque figure.

They promoted Warsi at every opportunity, pushing her onto Newsnight, Question Time, encouraging her to be outspoken but she is one of those politicians that puts her foot in her mouth with regularity. I expect there are a fair few within Conservative HQ will be glad to have her silenced. Ummuna on the other hand has kept a fairly low profile so far, probably waiting for Labour to gain a bit more popularity before he really strikes forward.

Warsi's elevation the the Lords was effectively (IMO) a corrupt act in that she had no experience / qualification to justify it. It was simply tokenism to try to show the same old same old Tories were modern. Just like the tree and the "green" branding. She personifies the danger of positive discrimination.
