Born into a poor family, got elected against all odds when he was young, fought back from repeated, devastating tragedy, has uncanny levels of empathy, never lost an election.
In short: just a kind, decent old man.

After the madness that was Trump, a bit of calm and certainly some reconciliation between the 2 sides, would be a damn good thing.
Trump has spent his 4 years stoking division and hatred.
Biden could be exactly what everyone needs.

He's certainly got political staying power.

He certainly doesn't have the baggage Hillary had, and, he'll probably have a better chance of bringing the parties together than she would have. However, the Democrats have failed to win the Senate, and have a reduced majority in the Congress, so Biden being president doesn't necessarily mean much will change from a legislative perspective. Although, at least Biden can get the big pen out and bypass them anyway.

It's also important that the Democrats start planning for 2024, because it's highly unlikely he'll get a 2nd term. I'm assuming Harris will be the planned successor, but she's obviously not going to be very popular with a lot of white America, and she's a polarising figure in the black community also.

For all Trumps faults and apparent psychopathy / narcissism, the one good thing he has done is resisted bombing innocent people in far flung parts of the world, despite internal pressure to do so. Biden won’t resist and the will become more unsafe as a result.

Thankfully, it looks like Biden will try to sign America back up to the Paris climate agreement, the Cuba agreement, and the Iran nuclear deal on day 1, so Biden's foreign policy will surpass Trump's entire tern in office in 1 day! Factually, the 25th amendment is being actively discussed by cabinet members - it requires the VP and the cabinet to agree that the President is incapacitated and the reports from inside the White House is that Trump has, to quote the reporting, "lost his mind".
