that makes no sense. though you've got your daily quota in at the end.
the coalition don't have to blame labour. the dates, the report point the finger at them. to do it in public would be seen as opportunistic. but all the targets, funding is sent down from government, a government obsessed with figures.
'"
The issue being that no-one in government is blaming anyone else other than the specific hospital - so why try and pin blame on a previous or current administration unless you delight in the playground style of politics ?

Because if I had a pound for everytime the Labour socialist clique bleat on about the poor state of the NHS pre 1997 I would be a very rich man.
Now it appears the NHS wasn't all that great when Labour were in office.

But doesn't it make you look a bit daft when no-one else is trying to make political gain from the non-issue - and believe me the politicians would try if they thought it would stick and not bounce back on them.

Interesting ... tell you what, whilst I digest the figures and compare etc, why don't you just ignore that one example, as the point still remains that I reckon Cameron's pay-rises-for compassion-only is a ruse to disguise a cut.

Also, do you really, really think that the Conservatives would [ufail[/u to pin it on Labour if they could possibly blame them?

I have to prove nothing. Thatcher is at the head of a long list of people whom I blame for the commercialisation of public services, purely to drive up profit opportunities for the private sector, all at the expense of the UK taxpayer. It is a fact that the vast majority on that list are tories, although they do include many New Labour politicians who decided to follow the Thatcher ideology.

Jeremy Hunt is under pressure from the Lib Dems (of all people !) and Labour about the NHS.
It's all about Statutory Instrument 257 (Section 75) of the Health & Social Care Act 2012, under which virtually EVERY part of the NHS would be opened up to private providers to bid/cherry-pick/make profit from.
This government promised no top-down restructuring of the NHS.
Maybe they forgot to mention it would just be privatised.
If you want to say NO ... here's the petition webpage ---> https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/nhs-section75

I can quite easily be more compassionate. I'll practice it tonight in work.
"Excuse me nurse why is my dad blue?"
" Well instead of being horrible and forcing him to wear his tight constricting oxygen mask that will save his life. I felt it was more important that I held his hand whilst in an empathic manner I agreed with his need to keep the mask off, in his hypoxic state, as that made him feel better"
Obviously non of this will really happen tonight. As the moment he disagrees with me I'll sedate him
But I dread to think how this would be measured!

Agreed.
They must hate the way that 38 degrees can monitor their actions and mobilise reaction.
I only became a member by default, having been a Charter 88 signatory, but I rarely disagree with their petitions

You know there's a storm of some proportion on the horizon when in-government politicians start to blame their predecessors, stage two will be to distance Nicholson from any of this and use Staffs as a reason for more privatisation - they've been embarassed by their covert action to press on with privatisation, now they have to start the smoke, mirrors and blame approach.

Cameron is backing Nicolson for one simple reason: he's entirely comfortable with having another heartless, clueless 2@ as his standard bearer. He will be equally keen to hang him out to dry in a couple of weeks

Yes, Meryvn King (wholly independent of government of course) is saying we ought to follow the Scandinavian model and get RBS back into private hands asap. What's the betting Osborne follows his advice and extends it?

I have this vision of Cameron, Hunt and Co sat in a room working tirelessly on the spin they will come up with to blame the Labour party for the end of the world. Anything but spending their energies on the job of government.
People are tiring of it. Just look at the comments at the end of the article you linked to. They don't want blame, they want good government and when the reaction to any problem is 9 times out of 10 "It wasn't me gov!" I really do think people are wondering just what is the point of a government which has this reaction rather than one that just gets on and sorts it out.

The party faithfull swallow it though, and then regurgitate it at any opportunity.
Truth is, they put their hand up for the job, the recession had hit two years previously, the banking crisis three years, despite pretending otherwise they knew exactly what the problems were before they stood for election in 2010 and they convinced enough people that they had a plan to fix the problems.
Seems they were wrong, there isn't a plan, never was a plan, there is political dogma and a couple of puppets having their strings pulled by the party elite and some very wealthy backers.
I long for the days of Wilson and Heath again, you knew exactly what they stood for and what you'd get and in the main they were up front and honest in their politic-ing.

PFI may have provided bricks and mortar for the NHS ... but not the extra doctors (remember the 70 hours-a-week junior doctors back then? ... probably not, you probably weren't born then), not the extra nurses, not the reductions in waiting time for A and E and Cancer treatment etc etc.
You need to learn the difference between PFI and the privatisation of treatment.

Private call handler Harmoni (owned by Care UK) have been sending ambulances to deliver painkillers etc. In fact the South West Ambulance Service (the pilot) have seen an increase in emergency calls, many funnelled to them by Harmoni.
Yet another tory cost saving exercise that will end up costing the NHS more and leaving less for care & treatment
