| Problem seems much reduced, liveable with so far, think mainly due to disabling HW acceleration. Thanks for the help.
Still interested in suggestions for an alternative browser.

| Went into Comet for a new DVD player, came out with a new quad 4 I Mac
Wanted one for ages, hope they live up to all the 'big ups' I have had from Apple users.

Blu-ray external drives are around £50, why would you need to install windows?

There is a Mac version of Office and very good it is too (apart from Outlook) if they threw it in with the Mac then it should (i hope) be the OSX version, boot the Mac pop the disk in and follow the instructions.
Mac OS has some differences to what you are used to but nothing major, quite a lot will make you think why can't windows be that easy, only downside is no high end games but you'd buy an XBox for them.

| Anyone familiar with programs that switch sub pixels on and off? I have one missing pixel on my screen that's been there since purchase. I contacted Toshiba and they said there are third party programs that do it, but they can't recommend any.

If this doesn't do it then they give you your money back.
Beware though, your screen is within tolerance so Tosh won't fix it under warranty.

Not a problem to me, still getting to grips with my compendium I got when I was 10
mainly be used for internet, Photoshop, video editing, Word & Excel and Autocad. I have used one at college and have always fancied one , so decided to take the plunge.

Quite simple really, if you want to watch blu ray movies on an iMac you need to install windows through bootcamp and use a windows based media Player to go with your external blu ray drive.

| Does any one have any recommendations for MP3 players?
Basically I need something which has 8GB (or more) capacity, the option to expand it with a memory card, reasonably robust, good battery life and isn't an iAnything. Any suggestions?

| Update on my "Firefox not responding" issue and alternative browser request from November 15.
Don't think that Firefox was the cause of the problem - it was most likely due to my accessing a website while it was subject to a Denial of Service attack.
Re Google Chrome - well I was offered it as an option while downloading some other software yesterday. Not for now thanks I said, or thought I did, but it installed itself anyway and then had the cheek to decide that it was my default browser. So I've uninstalled it. Seems to me that Google is becoming the personification of the evil corporation. Duck Duck Go, here I come.

Well, sort of, but I've yet to see one where you can't select a 'no I don't want that' option.

Neither have I, I have however seen on that just ignores you when you select the no option. They didn't stay an affiliate very long mind.

Did to me, so it does. I definitely gave one "no" answer but I quite expect that the download process may have given me a later "opportunity" which I missed.
BTW, I don't come on here telling lies.

I assume no one has an opinion on this? If so does would any have a preference of one brand over another? Say an £80 Creative v a £40 SanDisk?

I would guess the %age of people using an iSomething is quite high here add in your need for an expansion slot and you really reduce your chances.
