He may not be a part of the remain campaign but he has every interest in supporting it. Brexit would do significant damage to the French economy in the short-term and in the long-term it would put more pressure on things like the CAP and also France's own contributions given it is one of the largest economies in the project. Nobody asked me if I agreed with the French minister, I don't agree that it would be "like Guernsey", I do believe that we would have to contribute to the European budget to be involved in the single market as he said (which you didn't read). But he isn't part of the remain campaign as you originally implied so it's immaterial isn't it?

Yes, it tells us he's not in a stable state of mind, it also tells us that something has riled him up and made him feel like he needed to take action. Obviously no sane person would do what he's done, but that doesn't mean that the reasons for it should just be dismissed. He's been fed strong enough rhetoric and tensions have been whipped up so much that it was enough for a person on the edge, as he clearly was, to be pushed over the edge.

And yes, campaigning has (rightly) been suspended which is why accusations of 'political points scoring' are doubly absurd.

I was talking about his specific action within the current society and climate. No doubt there are plenty of people, including some who have posted on this thread, who would be more than capable under the right circumstance. What I'm confused about is where these people come from and if they are actually aware of their own nature or not.
