Yeah. 'Cos it's not like there are any men 'in power' any more, and they aren't 'ramming' policies that impact particularly negatively on women down anyone's throats, even though they were not elected on the basis of most of said policies, oh no!

If you think this is rampant feminism then you need to get out more.

Or more to the point, does Harriet Harman not know that womens professional cycling is very strong across Europe and that the likes of last years Olympic silver medalist Lizzie Armitstead has raced professionally for Dutch teams for several years now - there is already sufficient resources for organisations to arrange a large tour type race if they so wanted without necessarily badgering the Le Tour organisers.

Quite... that woman is so keen to leap onto feminist bandwagons, she doesn't notice that the band is gigging somewhere else quite happily.
I bet you remember Beryl Burton ?

Beryl Burton - we used to always stop on our cycling jaunts in a cafe in Gargrave that was a shrine to her ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

Encountered her once in the line of business. Cold doesn't come close. Wouldn't trust her further than I could throw her.
On the general 'feminist' stuff, a lot of what gets coverage these days (which is far from the only feminist angle on things, irrespective of how much it's presented as such) is so lacking in any form of intellectual rigour that's it's embarrassing.
Mind, that's pretty much in keeping with much that's spouted in politics these days.

It is when it becomes excessive, turning everything that is aimed at men into 'oh that's sexist'. (though i never understood the McCoys being 'Man Crisps', or Yorkies apparently being not for girls. That seems like alienating potential customers to me.) The amount of trivial things i've seen on Twitter posted under the guise of that new worldwide craze 'Everyday Sexism' is truly hilarious. Asda selling only blue Angry Birds T-shirts is apparently sexist, as is a girls t-shirt that says 'when i grow up i want to marry a Prince'. Hardly sexist, more like lazy-ar*ed marketing. There's now a woman who wants all lads mags banned as they ''send out the wrong messages'', (because womens beauty mags don't do that do they? Nor do trash magazines like Hello who, 2 days after Kate gave birth, were interested in her post-baby weight-loss routine), and can cause violence towards women. Can they? Really? Any evidence of that? I doubt it. Co-Op wants Zoo & Nuts et all to be in brown envelopes to protect children, if they must, then fine.
Anybody remember that song by Alicia's Attic, that had the line 'I feel like i wanna smash his face in. Yeah, that'd be fun!''. I want it banned off the radio......... ASAP ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

If Co-Op are that bothered about the effect of bare flesh on their magazine shelves, I trust they will be asking Men's Health and Attitude to ensure they don't have topless fellas with their nipples out on the front cover?
Or is a topless man less offensive somehow than a bikini-clad woman?
