Morrisey can't even sell the big issue nowadays, the rest of them definitely had more talent than "Sir Cliff" has ever had.

| But Sir Cliff is a nice bloke though. What more do you want?
Actually, thinking about it, that's probably got as much to do with the choice of acts as anything else. 'Nice and unthreatening'. Grace Jones may have been the exception

I wouldn't have minded having as much talent as him...

I would have thought you were intelligent enough to realise that quantity of sales doesn't neccessarily equal quality of the artist??
Westlife have been the biggest selling artist in the UK over the last decade - I hope you won't insult us by suggesting that they have been the most talented artist in that time?

it takes a certain type of person to appreciate Morrisey, the type of person I don't ever associate with, the man is a moron, he might be a rich moron, but he's still a moron.
Des O'Connor sold records, nothing to do with having any talent.

Sorry, obvious misunderstanding, but you refered to Morrissey whilst using a quote that was refering to Cliff Richard??...
If you read back carefully, I'm sure it will become clear?

| The Queen's birthday is a public holiday today here in Oz. Funny how you don't get it over there.
Still the jubilee celebrations brought you all a lovely long weekend. Hurrah, hurrah and thrice hurrah.

Having one Bank holiday guarantees rain, having two guarantees an extra 4.5 hours on my drive to Devon, the worst storms in 100 years and half of Wales under water. I fail to see the benefit.

| Are people allowed to suggest that Her Maj was actually 'born' - what with the connotations of blood and private parts and her mam swearing like a trooper during labour? Surely she cannot have been conceived by intercourse? She must have been immaculately conceived and delivered by a stork - or is the stork not a noble enough bird? Golden eagle perhaps.
One of the funniest things I heard recently BTW was a comment that the Queen mum was a noted society 'beauty'. I have to say I've seen a lot of photos of the old bat in her younger days, and 'beauty' isn't a word that ever springs to mind.

| Without wishing to stray too far off topic: those who hark back to the mythical "golden Age" of English football need a reality check. Apart from the 1966 World Cup Final win, the England footbal team have been [is[/ihit for decades. It's got buggerall to do with the amount of money in the game, when the game was skint we were [is[/ihit, now with the game being incredibly awash with money, we're still [is[/ihit.

A few years ago, I explained to my parents that, given one of the surnames in the family (Ingham*), we probably have a bit of German in the background too.
They were not amused.
I found it hilarious.
* Meaning 'Ing's ham', apparently. A 'ham' is a homes, in essence. And 'Ing' was one of the German names for Freya, the god of fertility. So the heritage is probably Saxon.
