Well much as it pains me to state the bleedin' obvious, it's the same theory that applies to the "beefburgers should be made of beef" train of thought. However as we have seen, this isn't always the reality.

This conversation started with a poster (WIZEB?) stating they were making their own, so in that case, a Cottage Pie will indeed be made with beef mince (from a butcher), so BG is right, it isn't a theory at all.

I don't recollect anyone claiming they should be made from shepherds or cottages, so I fail to understand your stance

I said that was the theory anyway (as presumably beef lasagne = beef, lamb lasagne = lamb)

So, councils demand cheaper meat for hospitals and schools – except they don't of course, for hospitals, and in many cases, they don't for schools either, where the service has been privatised.

As the government were warned about this in writing nearly 2 years ago, it will be somewhat hypocritical of them if they belatedly have a go at the supermarkets.

I believe that anyone wishing to state that the Shepherd's Pie they make contains beef is well within their rights to do so!
