| It is just me that feels like Max Payne is one long cut scene spelled with a bit of game play?
The level of production is superb and the game play is good when you're at it. But it is just annoying watching a cut scene for 8 minutes before playing for 5.

Yep, I've got it. Currently playing through the campaign in 4 player co-op with a few mates and it's really good fun. The emphasis is on stealth, using camo to sneak amongst guards and then use a 'sync shot' technique to take out multiple guys at the same time.
A lot of missions are an instant fail if you get spotted, but it's a good laugh if playing with mates and someone keeps making a mistake
The game probably wouldn't be much fun on your own, but if you know a few people you can play through co-op with then I would definitely recommend it.

Have you played Metal Gear solid 4? Each cut scene is between 20-90 mins. I'm sure the last cut scene is nearly 2 hours long.
I've just finished the first act on MP3, and its brilliantly done, as has become the norm with Rockstar games. I started it on hard and its a lot harder than any rockstar game I've played in a while.

| E3 starts next week, should be tons of new info for us to take in.
For anyone interested, the Microsoft conference will be streamed live at 5:30pm uk time on Monday with several other streams following after that. For anyone mental/hardcore enough to do it, the Sony stream is set to start at 2am uk time Tuesday morning
Check the obvious sites for live streams (Gamespot, IGN, Gametrailers etc.)

| The length of cut scene gripe is a fair one and one that some gamers were obviously going to object to. As i said, for me, the casual gamer, I think it's excellent. It's almost a little reward for completing each bit. The story is gripping, which is honestly the first time I've thought that about a video game. (P.S. Heavy Rain? Any good?).
I'm in the slums of Sau Poalo now with a shaven head and a bad taste shirt. Playing it on easy (as I say, no time to get too challenged by it!) and finding it quite easy to plough through the numerous baddies that are coming at me.) The set piece scenes (my favourite on the New Jersey level) with the bullet time are also superbly done.
I can see the game becoming samey after a while, hope there's another boss coming up, only one of those to speak of so far that I can remember.

| MP3 is great - the dialogue is superb and the gameplay flows very well.
RE: the cutscenes, you can skip them after they've "loaded" but then you don't really feel as immersed as you do after watching them.
And I agree about the sameyness, although I'm on chapter XI (I think, the bit with the run-down hotel anyway) and I still feel compelled to finish the story so it's not lost its edge on me yet. Can't see me picking it up again after completing the story though.

If they make a 'proper' console Pokemon game, I'll get one.

| I hope Microsoft show us a next gen console, Wii U doesn't count.
Just think December 2013, Xbox 3, Fifa 14 Next Gen, Full HD
Got a feeling that their conference will be Gears of War and Halo 4 and another Forza, maybe a show steal with GTA V Exclusive DLC (I doubt this game will be at E3).
Sony will just do Vita stuff I imagine, maybe a few surprises. I'm ready for a new console though.

| A new console won't help the lack of quality gaming from developers. I'm not bored of my PS3; I'm bored of playing CoD8, FF13 and all the other sequels. I keep on saying, consoles could do with a high quality MMO game, something that can take the community by storm, but devs are too happy to churn out the same old stuff.

| I'd like to say I'm enjoying Max Payne 3 but it's doing my head in tbh. Don't know when your in a cut scene or playing and even on easy I'm finding it a bit difficult, Only upto chapter 3 and already at a point where I'm ending up dead quite a lot with not enough health to get anywhere and no ammo to do anything. never really played any of the older Max Payne games so maybe I just don't get it, but so far it is just frustrating the hell out of me.

I'd invest in a couple of pads if I were you because there're some bits later on in the game that are very annoying.

Look good that. Don't think they've confirmed that they will be making it though.
The new Tomb Raider looks very goo as well.

| Watch Dogs looks fantastic, that's a game I will be picking up.
Strangely looking forward to Nintendo today, ZombiU looks like something totally different to what I'd expect from Nintendo and the graphics on Rayman were brilliant so hopefully they show some gameplay today for something like Zelda.

Looks utterly unbelievably good. But the demo they showed off is clearly on a very space age PC with Direct X 11 with a pair of £3,000 graphics cards no doubt. There is no way the current consoles could anywhere close to replicating those graphics, or the volume and movement of NPCs. Which begs the question, is the console version dialled way, way back, or is it being developed for the next generation of consoles? I don't think they mentioned which systems it's being developed for.

If anything it would be a pair of GTX690s (£874 each) at the very most although it'd more likely be just the one, DX11 has been around for ages.
The PS3 will do well with it, even if the graphics are slightly scaled back - the Xbox will probably end up being multiple discs.

As another xbox or Playstation havent been announced yet it would have to be for this generation... Not sure they could announce a game being for a console that hasnt been confirmed. Also after having a look around online, there are several people suggesting its being made with the same engine that powers Assassins Creed 3, Anvil. Therefore very much this generation

| Finished MP3 today. Superb story. There was enough small variation in the level design plus set pieces to prevent it from being boring. Can other people finish it please, because I have a lot of questions re: the story.

Well it's well known that developers have had access to the next PS (codename Orbit) for quite some time now, so there's every chance it could be a title for the next gen consoles.
I agree that the amount of processing power needed to run that game is too high for current gen consoles.

It's been confirmed it was demoed on a monster PC but that's it is coming out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. I knew PC games were ahead graphically, but there is no way they will get the PS3/Xbox 360 versions looking anything like that. The rain is spectacular, as is the wind. The rain in the wind is even better. It's not just how it's looked either, it's the movement of the NPCs and how they react to the environment. I imagine they will just scale it right back, maybe changing the viewing angle to reduce the field of vision/draw distance or something.
Xbox impressed me at the conference with the direction they are taking. The 'assault on the big tele' that was muted when this generation came out is now slowly taking shape and shows how in the future games consoles could be your entertainment, you wouldn't really need anything else. The Smartglass idea is really cool, as is the integration of the Music and movies between devices. One thing that confused me was whether these things, Music and Movies and smartglass would be on iphone/android as well as Windows Phone? They definitely mentioned Smartglass on other devices, but I'm not sure whether that's just the ability to use your phone screen to control the internet browser, or whether it extends to everything? If not, it's one more reason for trying Windows Phone, as I hate Apple and am pretty bored of Android to be honest.
What are people's thoughts of the Nintendo show? It seemed very stereotypically Nintendo, bright primary colours, clouds, pipes, plumbers and the same utterly boring franchises they have had for 20 years. The Wii U's pad didn't look very good either and is rumoured to have a 3 hour battery life, which if true makes it pretty stupid. Mind, it's probably plenty of time as most people don't use a Wii for more than an hour every six months. (Flame away Nintendo fans, I'd be interested to hear what you thought of it)
