I have considered it but after at least five aborted attempts to read Lord of the Rings over a 40 year period, I've been reluctant to try them.
I now tend to buy bathroom or sh[it[/ihouse books. The former is one that would take about 30 minutes to read a chapter in the bath. The latter a book that has about three stories across two pages, that can be safely picked up and read while taking a dump

There's a few things I want to watch, but frankly I'm always relieved that there's far more on that doesn't appeal to me personally. I don't want to sit in front of the box all the time.
One of those few things is on in a few minutes: [iRatatouille[/i - a cartoon. About food.

| I is currently enjoying Darcey Bussel Dancing Hollywood.
I love the whole Astair, Rodgers, Kelly routines and the music they danced to.

| Well after my father repeatedly telling me how funny it is, I tried watching the Christmas special of 'Mrs Brown's Boys' last night. I must be missing something, because I found it boring and predictable. Low brow humour at its most obvious.

Of all the acting genres, humour is the most subjective, I find that generally comedy vehicles like this one and the likes of "Outnumbered" are at their funniest during the first series when they are at their freshest and everyone (including the script writers) are trying hard to wring out every laugh.
Mrs Browns Boys was funny when it was first aired last year, last nights episode brought chuckles, no more, there's nothing wrong with low brow humour (whatever that is) as long as its intrinsically funny and it can only be that when its is new, the world is littered with comedy series that went on far too long after their use by date.

| Agree with the comments about Top Gear. I didn't know it was so only tuned when they were on a train doing totally predictable gags with banners. I turned off after the hill climb thing. So i saw about 10 minutes
I used to be a huge fan, and could still watch some older ones on Dave to kill some time.

| The last of the Top Gear specials to have any genuine entertainment merit was the polar expedition - those that have followed have been little more than exercises in lazy racial stereotyping, padded out with amusing and totally accidental "mishaps" that weren't at all staged for comic effect.
There's only so many times you can do Jeremy blows something up, James gets hopelessly lost and Richard doesn't like anything foreign before it runs its course.

I must admit that I stopped watching Top Gear once it stopped being about cars and not about the egos of the 3 presenters, but is it not fair to say that it is now purely a TV version of Loaded magazine?
White, middle-aged, middle-class, casually racist blokes trying to be 'cool', when they are actually a million miles from being so, catering for people of a similar ilk?....

| top gear really needs to be put down now. the contrived 'hilarious accidents' are tedious and telegraphed and in the special tend to rely on lazy xenophobia. The annoying thing is if the production team binned the script and just left the three to their own devices their genuine friendship and chemistry would be far more entertaining. When TG does semi serious stuff it can be sublime but the producers seem intent on the staged crap, I suspect the growth and success in the states may have something to do with this. improve or kill it off. The only bit that worked last night was the scenes playing cricket with the local kids which at least felt spontaneous, the sort of thing that couldnt have been planned in a production office by some y middle aged producer

Doesn't the US have its own version of Top Gear, rather than taking the BBC one directly?
From what I've seen of Top Gear USA, it's three blokes in their late 20s/early 30s hooning around in cars and generally having a lot of fun doing so - what the UK version used to be like before it started trying too hard.

| What did we think to The Bank Job?
I had to laugh when the two finalist faced with the prospect of sharing (Ooh! Perish the thought) the best part of half a million pounds, chose instead via shiftiness to give the money to the other three losing finalists.
A wonderful ending for the producers.
They don't give a sh/t who wins, that's why they introduced the dreadful 'cheats may prosper' Golden Balls type ending.
What was wrong with a proper play-off?
On second thoughts, it was an ending fitting for another ageist show like this one.
