Finally got round to watching the first episode. Complete garbage, didn't register a single laugh.

I thought that too and haven't watched it since. However, a number of people on another forum I use have stuck with it and say it has picked up considerably, so I'm gonna give it another try on the iplayer

Since when did it become necessary for Scooby Doo characters to be romantically involved with one another? I'm sure Daphne didn't ever hit on Fred in my day.

The frisson was there though. Why else did Shaggy and Scooby end up with Velma AND find the ghost? What were Fred and Daphne doing?

Quite enjoying Syfy 's channel chicken robot Star wars parody.

Whatever it was, they were a lot more discreet about it than they are now. Daphne might as well be wearing a 'F*ck Me, Fred' t-shirt these days.

I sat down in front of the tv and knew there was something I wanted to watch. When I turned it on this came on I figured this was it. I really enjoyed it, but could have done without all the opportunities for celebs to remind everyone they don't know anything.

I really enjoyed Black Mirror too, which is what I actually sat down to watch.

It was good. It was kinda spoilt in my house by my wife saying "I don't get it" and "what's he on about" every forty-five seconds, but I still enjoyed it. I wish there was more of this kind of programming on the TV, but I suspect there's little room in the schedules once Strictly Come X-Factor and whatnot have been on. I suspect the celebrities were there to cater for those who are more interested in seeing Jonathan Ross looking foolish than they are in quantum physics.

In a way the celebrities thing worked. It's a rip of the RI Christmas lecture format, and the audience is meant to be wowed and amazed. I just don't want them making jokes about how bad they are at technical subjects in the middle of a physics lecture. Who would get invited onto the stage of a lecture about Shakespeare to tell the audience they can't frigging read?

Scooby Doo was never really good, but was totally ruined when the monsters and ghosts started being 'real', instead of creepy janitors and such in elaborate costumes.

Like when Tom and Jerry started talking. Not cool.

I suppose their jokes were better than some of Professor Cox's. The 'Paul Foot' one made me squirm a bit.

Just watched series 4 of Sons of Anarchy, and its as unpredictable as ever, and sets up series 5 well with lots of questions to be answered. only 10 months to wait

The new three part adaptation of Great Expectations starting Tuesday looks quite excellent, its one of my favourite Dickens novels and this production looks to be suitably superb.

By contrast I watched the (apparently) spoof of The Old Curiosity Shop on Monday and found it mainly absolute shoite, the least you should do in a spoof is make things funny.

I wasn't the only one then.

I did wonder at first why the beeb had scheduled it to start 30 minutes before the start of Ep. 2 of The Young Herriot on BBC1. I reckon it was so after watching 30 minutes of The Old Shop of Stuff, people would switch over to watch Herriot.

I must say I have been enjoying the MGM HD Channel (Sky 345) and with a catalogue of 4000 remastered movies, I can see me scanning the schedules a little more often

The Christmas TV schedule is nothing short of atrocious. Seems to be full of Christmas editions of existing programmes (wow, great originality), or in typical ITV fashion, CELEBRITY versions of existing programmes. I'm sorry, but All Star Family Fortunes featuring TOWIE cast members any day is bad, but on Christmas day it's just... awful. Nothing tickles my fancy at all. Any suggestions on what to do instead?? Bear in mind there's just the two of us.

play board games

Go to the pub, come home and eat your chrissie dinner, drink copious amounts of alcohol.

That way the TV is an annoying irrelevance, get wrecked, go to sleep and wake up on Boxing Day

So much better than the usual gangster stuff real character development and moral dilemmas.

Have you read the books. Not an easy read but very clever and the series so far seems very true to the book.
