| Never had it but seen on tv the grief it causes, 18 month ago I spent 6 days in the ICU at Barnsley General with Bilateral Pneumonia which put me completely out of it and caused further problems with the heart, not sure which is worse the covid or my condition but I can certainly say that having covid can't be a pleasant experience.

| I'm interested to also know how many people have gone through this mess without Covid ever coming near them. Neither me, my kids or their mum have had it (that we know). None of my parents, grandparents, wider family such as cousins, Aunties and Uncles have had it. And none of my mates have. Am I just in some sort of mad bubble or has anyone else had that experience?

That was the thing with me ,I didn't know anybody out of family and friends who had it ,I began to doubt the perceived
threat of it

I have known a lot of people that have had it and many that haven’t.
My BIL got it after being out shopping and was quite ill 2 weeks off work and about 3 months to get right. Age 56 but fit as a butchers dog
Nephew got it was like a bad flu but Ok after 5 days. Aged 30
SIL and all her family got it. Everyone of them about 10 people . All relatively ok just like bad flu aged 10 to 48
SIL. X 2 get it . Both bad flu type symptoms ( 1 got it twice) but ok. Aged 34 and 28.
Wife’s best friend got it. 11 months later still struggling with long Covid . Aged 47.
Best friends dad got it three weeks ago died despite double jabbed aged about 80.
Have known a few others who have had it a number have died all aged about 60 to 80.
Girl at work aged 24 got it hospitalised really ill 6 months later still got brain fog. She was fit as a lop
In general those who have got it have been involved in nob ish behaviours not distancing / going to pubs to watch football etc.
Those that haven’t had it in general have been careful despite being key workers in health and social care

| I know a handful of people who have tested positive with varying degrees of symptoms, from a mere runny nose to burning up in bed for 3 days. A friend of my wife's had it last spring and still has breathing issues when cycling which she didn't have before.

What I have noticed is when you go into the big shops there a quite a lot of the older people what you would think would know better and try and protect themselves better are now not wearing any facial coverings at all, where as the younger generation you don't expect them to wear them and they don't disappoint either.

| If I were a covid denier than my peculiar personal experience would have inevitably made me feel fully vindicated. As it is, I work for the DHSC and I've seen what the country has faced and the fight to stop it. The fact that no one in my circle of family and friends have knowingly had Covid, is just a rare fluke.

| Had mild flu symptoms for a couple of days, then lost my sense of smell for a day, after that i was left with a frequent cough and bunged up sinuses for about a week. Thankfully no long-term effects.

| Sister in law who’s 35 and double jabbed currently has it. She’s really bad and looking like she may need to be admitted to hospital as she is really struggling to breathe and has bad pain in her chest
Best friend had it during the second wave and was admitted to hospital but was discharged a few days later
All other people I know who had it have had mild cold symptoms

| Got it, I strongly suspect, on a Friday back in March 2020, started off as not been able to taste or smell which wasn't a known symptom at the time, before being in bed for a couple of days over the weekend and one evening struggled to breathe. Had Monday and Tuesday off sick and back to work on Wednesday. Not had a peep of it since.

| My wife and I plus my two girls had it three weeks ago.We all had flu like symptoms and fatigue. I also had brain fog. I had difficulty adding up and short term memory problems. These have now seized. My wife still feels sick and tired three weeks after.

| My daughter (21) had it at Uni back in June and was miserable for 8 days, lost taste which has now come back but otherwise she managed fine. My son (1icon_cool.gif has had one dose of vaccine (Pfizer) and went to Boardmasters in Newquay with 13 of his mates two weeks ago. 10 of them came back with Covid last week including him - of the four who didn't two had just had it a few weeks prior and the other two, well, they got it as well later last week. The boy has been mooching around the house for a week, not isolating within the home and my wife and I (both fully vaxxed) have not caught it - well, I think I have but only symptoms are a bit of fatigue and feeling a bit clammy for the last few days like I'm fighting something off. I am pretty sure it's covid that's making me feel like this as I haven't felt like this for nearly 2 years. As far as I'm concerned that means the vaccine has done it's job. I have been isolating and not going out as in all I could still spread it, tests are negative though. My son was a little rough, cough etc, but nothing serious and we were a little worried as he was hospitalized when he was very young with chest and breathing issues and he has asthma (exercise related, not day to day, he uses inhalers for rugby). Lost taste and smell a little. He's not been working and will go back next week. His main worry was that he wouldn't be able to get his new tattoo done and healed before the season starts. Priorities eh?

| I had it quite early on. Had a few days of feeling very tired and a couple of nights of having a fever but short term, that was it. A year later and I still can't taste anything properly other than Garlic. Nearly killed my parents, but they've both got several underlying health conditions.

| Tested positive on Sunday after starting with what I thought were cold symptoms on Friday night. Daughter also tested positive, but wife tested negative. I'm double jabbed and my wife is double jabbed plus booster. Symptoms started with a runny nose and sneezing, but have developed into a deep, chesty cough, aching shoulders, tiredness, complete loss of smell and 90% loss of taste. My wife made homemade shepherd's pie for tea tonight and I couldn't smell a thing. Could just about taste a bit of onion.

That would be a blessing with my wife's cooking. I think I had in Feb 20 on a visit to NYC - couldn't smell or taste anything for 2-3 months.

| I had it pretty bad in March 2020, although it could not be tested at the time, and I was working in critical care, it was definitely Covid and absolutely knocked the smoke out of me. 10 days solid in bed, uncontrollable fever, loss of taste and smell, weird rash, and bad cough. Took me about a month to get over it with fatigue etc. I was thrust straight into night shift as the poo had well and truly hit the fan in the 2 weeks i had off, operating theatres were turned into make shift icu spaces, it was a very scary and sad time watching countless people lose their lives. Saying all this I don’t know anyone who has died or had this bad. While I was very badly in bed my partner and little boy were fine!

| When I tested positive last January, out of the blue on a routine workplace test as I had no symptoms at all, I can honestly say that I felt nothing untoward whatsoever. No fever, no flu like symptoms, no loss of sense of smell.
However the vaccinations have been pretty terrible. Even with my booster a few weeks back I was laid up for about 4 days.

| First jab (AZ) I had a bit of fever starting about six hours afterwards and lasting maybe twelve hours. Second one was nothing.
Covid itself I got about a month later and was loss of smell and taste and worse than normal flu like symptoms. Lasted about a week or so all in but was on the milder end I think. I know about 15 other people who've had it and that's been the typical experience, some slightly longer to get over it.
Someone I work with quite regularly at one of our suppliers has been off for three months with really bad effects though whilst a girl in her 30s who worked for my brother unfortunately died from it last year. It's really sadly slightly random in how it affects different people.

Although my personal experience is fine, I do know 5 people who have died from it.
My cousins husband was the first paramedic in the country tonite from it, no underlying conditions, fit as a proverbial butchers dog, 48 years young. ZZB said it was anecdotal evidence back then and he should have just wanted to live more iirc.
I know another lad who was 50 again no underlying conditions, and the rest were between 65 and 75.

So sorry you've been touched so closely by it; its absolutely hideous. My family are still very blessed to have none of us knowingly get it, not even extended family. We are very fortunate indeed.

My Son & His Girlfriend who both lives with us got it (He's a Teacher so I'm sure ZZB will think he was just skiving and ironically she works in a Lab Testing blood etc. for disease etc/) but they did the right thing and isolated for 10days in their room - My son had no symptoms, His GF did have Flu like symptoms for about 3 days or so.
The rest of our household isolated in the rest of the house for 10days
The experience my cousin and her kids/Family had with her Husband was just horrific
It was very early on (Pre Easter) and they had just started to use the turning technique etc. However, He had bee sent home from Hospital despite feeling really rough after he originally went in, The rest of the family got it, They ended up ringing one of their work colleagues 2 days later and they turned up for him, took him away and within 24hrs he was Intubated. Never saw him again until 2 weeks later when he died.
My other cousin (Her Brother) went up that night and he was speaking to me from the hospital - He said it was surreal in that outside and in A&E there was no-one - Yet through the Doors everyone was Haz Mat up and it was like a scene from MASH, it was horrendous. A family friend of ours worked on ICU so we knew what was going on with his care etc. and the nurses/doctors inside that environment were unbelievable and we will never forget their care and compassion.
He also at the time was working with a firm who were asked to procure PPE - Hospitals/councils etc. ringing 24/7 asking to get their hands on anything they could get - The stories about having no body bags for the dead etc. just blew me away and it certainly affected him.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear in years to come of Doctors/nurses etc. who are struggling with forms pf PTSD after all this.
