Quote ="Ferocious Aardvark"Of course it should. It's just like the trial of some guy in South Africa for murder, which we apparently are all avidly interested in due to him having no legs but being a good runner. Had his next door neighbour done exactly the same thing, you'd never have known but instead, those who decide such things decree that you shall have wall-to-wall coverage and you shall be interested.
Peaches Geldof was probably worthy of a headline simply given who her parents were, and it seems to be the case that people have a morbid fascination with "celebrity" so anyone remotely fitting that bill is "news". I feel sorry for the family. It is enough they have lost a young family member in such a sudden and tragic way, without having to face huge media intrusion, but as long as this sort of stuff sells media and generates clicks then it will only get worse.'"
I was about to say it makes a change from a blow by blow account of the Oscar Pistuprious trial.
As for Peaches Geldof, I phoned some friends on mine when I heard the story break on the radio yesterday evening, simply because one of their daughters was an old school friend of Peaches. They were grateful to me for letting them know so they could then break it to their daughter. The upside was, they also asked me to call round so they could buy 4 boxes of fish & prawns
