I too, saw it at the Imperial War Museum ... took me ages to tear myself away from it ... and yes, it's big all right.
I like his "Carnation, lily, lily, rose", for the glow of the lantern light.

I'm a sucker for clever representation of the effects of light, hence I love many of the Dutch masters ... but here, the two by Joseph Wright 'of Derby', whilst showing-off a bit, are superbly executed.
