The US constitution has been under attack since the day it was signed into force by white supremacist landowners for white supremacist landowners. Although it's fair to say its demise has been hastened over the last twenty years.
Most Americans don't know the constitution was partially dissolved two days after 9/11 by George W. Bush & Dick Cheney in favour of an extremely disturbing form of martial law which permits the use of warrantless surveillance, wire-tapping, arrest without charge, secret internment camps for "enemies of the state" etc. and is free from congressional oversight. Interestingly, one of the key architects of "CoG" was Donald Rumsfeld. That's not surprising in itself. What is is the fact that he was working [iin the private sector[/i at the time. Less surprising is the 9/11 Commission's failure to inquire about how and why someone not just outside of government but on the wrong side is able to draft plans for the dissolving of the constitution.
