Quote="Ski"Joe Pug was truly amazing. Proof that all you need to soud beefy is the right guitar, and something to stomp.
His set list was the same as his recent live release. But you know what, it was amazing. As was the venue, the castle hotel in Manchester. I wanna play there so bad.
And, to top it off, I got my mits on one of five hundred vinyl presses of Nation of Heat with his scribble on. I am now going to bed to cuddle it to sleep!'"
Going to see him Thursday night at the Borderline on Charing Cross Road. Third time I will have seen him live, his solo shows are pretty darned good. He has free tracks to download at www.joepugmusic.com/2012/01/sampler/

Sorry, yeah it has. Meant to update that...
Listened to it over the weekend and it really ain't up to much, but hey ho. It'll go in the record library at the station.
It's not often I get REALLY excited about something that drops through my door unexpected, but a pleasant surprise this week has been the new Erin Bardwell Collective album (the name of which escapes me for the moment).
Not only did I get a nice shiny CD of it, but they also very kindly sent me a copy on good ol' fashionded vinyl. Proper solid vinyl too, the sort that went out of fashion in the early 70s. And in an unlaquered sleeve too, it feels like it's straight out of JA, but somewhat delayed.
Musically it's much the same. old school rocksteady, sweet vocals - but with a distinctive English accent - and what sound like authentic era instruments and production techinques.
