Loiner4Lifes SLXIII Round 14 Preview

Not L4L!
by Loiner4life

We've hit the halfway stage in the regular Superleague season and the Rhinos will finish in top spot so long as they can avoid losing more games in the second half of the season than they did in the first.

Our brave predictors throw their hats in the ring, omce again.

Here are my thoughts on this weekend's action in Super League XIII Round 14.

RHINOS v. WILDCATS

Itís the World Champions coming up against the Boxing Day Champions and a nice return to Headingley for the boys. Leeds will have Brent Webb back this week at the expense of Ben Jones Bishop and maybe Ali and Bailey back from injury with Lee Smith likely to be wasting away in the 21ís! Wakefield have put quite a few points on the bored in the past 2 games although itís only been against NL1 quality on both occasions. Wakefield have shown in recent years they can come to Headingley and go back to Belle Vue with 2 points but if Leeds can keep there half backs at bay it should be a stroll in the park. Leeds by 18

WARRIORS v. WOLVES

Superb, no Claire Balding on television this week itís back to the Chuckle Brothers. 1 and a big games in 5 days will maybe take it out of the Wigan team with the Wire getting a nice 2 days extra rest after their thrilling cup encounter with Saints. Unfortunately Warrington this week added Reardon and Johnson to Bridge and will all be out for the rest of the season. Wire have ran saints close on there 3 meetings this season where Wigan have crumbled. Wigan will surly be full of confidence after putting 106 points past Whitehaven but itís not the best preparation coming into a game against a grand final contending team Ė I expect it to be close but due to Wireís injurys I fancy Wigan to sneak it. SAINTS v. DRAGONS

Third place come up against second at the job centre (cough) stadium (cough) The Dragons good run of form came to an end last week and if the score between the Dragons and the Bulls is anything to go by then after the Humiliating defeat we gave the Bulls 2 weeks ago itís hard to understand how they are second. Saints turned it on last week when they needed to get a result and in my opinion are still going to be our main challengers Ė it was nice to get a week off from Eddie creaming his apple catchers but at times Ray French was almost soiling his underpants itís all becoming too boring now. TIGERS v. BULLS

Castleford have had 2 weeks off which I donít think will give them any benefit at all I think they will be itching to try and put the Wakefield game behind them and come out of the blocks firing Ė unfortunately they come up against a team that only 4-5 weeks ago put 50 points past and I donít see any light at the end of the tunnel for them. Bulls will be fresh and ready hoping to get another win under there belt before there third meeting with the Rhinos and I expect them to make it 2 in a row easy. Bulls by 26

'QUINS v. FC

I said last week if itís tight with 5 minutes to go the Brian Macís bum cheeks will be nipping together, and I was right, they couldnít hold out after a superb second half fight back and leading by 2 points itís 3 in a row now they have lost out in the last 5 minutes of the game. Hull still very much it and miss cant read much into last weeks game due to them coming up against poor opposition Iím thinking home advantage may be the difference in this game so Iím tipping to Quins to hold out by 6

GIANTS v. KR

Repeat of last weeks cup game and a repeat outcome Iím afraid. Huddersfield are lucky only Cas are a more ugly playing side Iím not sure what they charge at Huddersfield these days but if itís more the £10 you're getting robbed! I stated earlier in the season that they hadnít replaced people like Drew and Robbie Paul with better quality, and I stand by that. Hudson isnít Super league quality for me and Luke Robinson shows only glimpses of what a good scrum-half is all about and probably why Salford were relegated. Jenson looks pretty good going forward but his defending at times is poor. The Rovers could find themselves in the top 6 if results go their way I canít see anything the a Rovers win. KR by 14
