Rhinos to Murder the Pussies?
Posted by southstander on March 27 2005 - 15:43:22

Rumour has it that there is a fair bit of disquiet in the Wildcats camp. After having a storming start to the season (wins against Bradford and Wigan in the opening weeks), they seem to have come off the rails with heavy defeats at London and most recently at home to Huddersfield.

Most Wildcats will be thinking that this is not the ideal time to be playing against a rampant Rhinos that are humiliating all who come before them. This could be a cricket score.

You just never know though...this could be the one where the 'Cats re-discover their form.

Tony Smith has been forced into changes. Ali Lauiti'iti has returned home to New Zealand following a family bereavement and Ward and Dunemann are both ruled out after picking up minor knocks against the Bulls. Danny McGuire returns to the bench, and Lee Smith is likely to join Wayne McDonald in replacing the the other two who miss out.

All interest will be on the hooking position, especially with Burrow and Sinfield being retained as the half-back combination. My suspicion is that Willie Poching may be named in the front row, but that as soon as McGuire is introduced, Burrow will take over. Liam Botham will be rewarded for good back-to-back away games with a start in the second row.

The 'Cats have named a twenty man squad including Solomona who was straight redded for smacking Nero on friday night. He's escaped missing this game through a ban simply because the disciplinary hasn't had chance to sit. There will be a few Leeds old-boys on show with Wrench, Jamie Field, Andy Kirk and Chris Feather all named by Shane McNally.

The Rhinos will enter this game as red-hot favourites. In the boxing-day game the Rhinos emerged as 46-6 winners, and little in recent weeks indicate that monday nights result will be any different.

Three Wildcats to keep an eye on;

It has forecast typical bank holiday monday weather with rain all day in LS6. This will undoubtedly keep the crowds down, as will the prospect of three games in nine days, with the visit of Warrington in the Challenge Cup on saturday. Prediction
Rhinos 56 06 Wildcats

Taking into consideration; the return of McGuire; Wakefields recent form; the Rhinos averaging thirty-nine points for and eleven against per game; the Wildcats averaging twenty-three points for and thirty-nine against; and, home advantage...I can see only one result...a massive Rhinos win!
