David Bywaters Player Appraisal - Hull FC Home
Posted by southstander on September 09 2007 - 05:34:27

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Here are Davids thoughts about Fridays home game against Hull;

No.NameScoreAnalysis
1Webb6Unconvincing - never looked truly confident in anything he did - I wish he would attack the ball on the kick return a little more.
2Donald8My MOM - not because he was so great more that he didn't let his standards drop like many of his team mates.
3Toopi6Unimpressive - missed numerous tackles and offered very little in the way of attacking options.
4Senior7Solid if unspectacular - nothing of real quality - nothing really bad.
5Smith6Watching Lee he seems to go ball chasing rather than marking his man - Head exposed his poor positional play for Raynor's first try, Raynor exposed it once again for his second
6McGuire6Started poorly - never got any better, not his night.
7Burrow6Plenty of quantity, sadly little quality - compare his performance with that of his opposite number.
16Bailey7One of the Rhinos better players on the night - big defensive effort - but as usual little impact ball in hand.
9Diskin6Shadow of the player he once was although getting an elbow in the face cannot have helped his cause - poor option in a key position.
10Peacock7Mark reflects his effort rather than his delivery - the only person who thinks he is a prop is Tony Smith - get him back in the second row.
11Jones Buchanan6Average at best - bad miss tackle for the first Hull try - like McGuire just not his night.
12Ellis8One of the better Rhinos forwards - very solid in defence and attack - still nowhere near the player he was at the beginning of the season.
13Sinfield6Just did not look to be at the races - missed several key tackles and contributed little going forward or as the caop on the field.
18Kirke5Tansey was dropped to make way for Ian's inclusion - why? - ask Tony as he is the only one who can justify Kirke's inclusion.
15Thackray6Once again his inability to keep hold of the ball in his own 20 led to a crucial try - very limited impact in a pretty abject performance.
22Ablett7Lucky to get a game given Kirke's inclusion - however he justified his selection with a try and some good tackling - hopefully Smith will remove his Kirke googles and give Carl more game time.
8Leuluai8The mark reflect 3/4 massive hits he put in during his time on the field - must be like running into the wall of an outside toilet - unpleasant.
