David Bywaters Player Appraisal - Bulls Home
Posted by southstander on July 01 2007 - 17:02:23

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Read more here....

Here are Davids thoughts about Fridays home loss to the Bulls;

1Webb7One of the Rhinos' better players although that isn't saying much - at fault for the Vainakolo try that apart pretty solid.
2Donald7As good as anyone on the Rhinos side - yet another try saving tackle on Platt - fortunately for Scott most of the Bulls attacks went down the other wing.
4Senior5 What does Keith have to offer any more - the one time he did make a half break he simply offloaded the ball to a Bradford player - would he be getting a game at Saints?
3Toopi7My MOM by default - like Webb pretty solid struggled a bit in the first twenty minutes after that coped comfortably with the Bradford onslaught.
5Smith6Came through what threatened to be tough night with much credit - at fault for the Evans try but took his try well.
6McGuire3The worst game I have seen Danny have in a Leeds shirt - everything he did turned bad with many of the Bulls tries coming directly from his mistakes - there is always next week.
7Burrow6Better than McGuire but outplayed by Deacon, his seemingly industrious nature oftens masks Rob's effectiveness - created very little last night.
16Bailey3Why oh why oh why - what does Ryan offer to this side - I am struggling to think of a single positive thing Ryan did last night.
9Diskin7Better than some of his recent performances - good try - but compare his standard to that of Newton and then ask yourself is this really the quality of number 9 a top side should have?
10Peacock3For Peacock see Bailey - what significant contribution/impact does Jamie make these days - he needs a serious kick up the backside - GB captain you are having a laugh.
11Jones Buchanan5One of his worst games of the year outplayed by McKenna - who illustrated the limitations in his game.
12Ellis6Looked well out of sorts perhaps the run around against the French took more out him than it looked - his attacking play is now so impotent - missed a number of tackles tonight too.
13Sinfield7Tried his heart out yet failed to inspire his team mates to the required level of intensity. Also his goal kicking looked vulnerable when the pressure was on. Great pass for the Smith try though - superb.
8Leuluai5The best of the Rhinos' props not that that is saying much - can we afford to carry a guy who can only manage two ten minute slots - his reflects the fact he only spent a quarter of the game on the pitch.
15Thackray5Injured his arm within two minutes of coming on and was never right after that.
23Tansey5No point having an impact player if you don't give him any time to make an impact - McGuire was having a stinker and should have been replaced at half time - like Leuluai Jordan's mark partly reflects his game time.
18Kirke4If you are an impact player you have to make an impact - sadly Ian isn't achieving that. You have to question wether he is quite up to Super League standard.
