David Bywaters Player Appraisal - Giants Away
Posted by southstander on June 19 2007 - 06:40:11

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Here are Davids thoughts about Sundays away game against the Giants;

No.NameScoreAnalysis
23Tansey8Went walkabout for Jackson's try but was on hand for the all important game breaker. Very solid all round performance.
2Donald8Worth an eight for his wonder tackle on Reilly alone. Superb anticipation and execution for his try at the death
4Senior6 With Keith's deminishing speed and power the Rhino can no longer break from deep down his channel - was put into a couple of potential gaps but was unable to exploit them - very sad to see.
3Toopi7One of the Rhinos best defensive players - had little opportunity in attack - very good performance.
5Smith6Bet he was glad he had Toopi on his inside - Lee seems to be struggling with his confidence at present.
6McGuire8Scored two made Tansey's try and tackled himself to a standstill - a great personal effort.
7Burrow7Worked hard but failed to deliver much in terms of attacking flair - however defended as if his life depended upon it.
16Bailey5Went off injured - not that you noticed.
9Diskin6I appreciate Matt hasn't played for a few weeks but he looked pedestrian - is this the future at 9 for the Rhinos.
10Peacock7A much improved second half - that would not have been difficult after a very lack lustre first stint. Something just isn't quite right here.
11Jones Buchanan6Osama had one of his worst games of the season. Gave away four penalties and knocked on twice.
12Ellis9My MOM - back to his very best. His defence contributed massively to the Rhinos taking the spoils.
13Sinfield8Very solid - got the important drop goal and took the penalty at the right time. Like many of his team mates a massive defensive effort.
8Leuluai6How effective is he- allowed Mason to drag him 10 metres towards his own - runs with energy but seldom breaks the line. Surely has to be on his way at the end of the season
15Thackray7Typical Thackray performance - plenty of aggression and commitment. One of those games where his efforts didn't get the reward they deserved.
18Kirke6Anonymous - very little impact on the game.
22Ablett7Two vital interceptions in a very positive display - fully deserves to keep his place in the seventeen.
