Dominant Rhinos sink Hull

The Rhinos got off to a perfect start after only 3 minutes, a neat chip over the top was taken by Danny Williams, he was in acres of space and drew the full back to send Jodie Broughton over. Jordan Tansey converted and Leeds were 6-0 up.

Six minutes later and the lead was extended, Kyle Briggs with the break. He had half his team mates queuing for a pass but went on his own to cross the line, Tansey was off target with the conversion but the lead was extended to 10-0.

Leeds were controlling the game, after a mistake from Ashley Thackeray gave the Rhinos a repeat set 10 metres from the Hull line, they scored on the third tackle when Mike Ratu showed great strength to get out of a 3 man tackle to fall over the line. Tansey converted from the touchline to take the score to 16-0.

Hull's errors in their own half were not helping their cause and Leeds took advantage again after 20 minutes. On the last tackle a grubber from Tansey was collected and he just beat Thackeray to the ball and went in under the posts. Tansey conversion was a simple one and he extended the lead to 22-0.

Hull just couldn't get their hands on the ball, this time a penalty gave Leeds field position. Michael Haley charged into the Hull defensive line and a superb offload allowed Jodie Broughton to get his second try of the game, Tansey converted and Leeds were 28-0 up and cruising.

Leds struck again just before half time, when Jordan Tansey charged a kick down by Ryan Steen. The ball nestled in his grasp and we went 60 metres to score, his conversion was off target but the Rhinos went into half time 32 points to the good.

The Rhinos carried on where they left off and crossed with the second half only three minutes old, a neat kick through form Kyle Briggs was pounced on in the in goal by Michael Brown who just managed to touch down. Tansey added the conversion to take the lead to 38-0 and surely the 2 points were in the bag.

Leeds powered on and scored on their next set, a good cut out pass from Luke Gale found Jodie Broughton and he showed great power to get down the South Stand touchline to cross for his hat-trick, Tansey converted to take the Rhinos over the 40 point barrier.

Leeds got their third try of the second half with 53 minutes on the clock, from a scrum on the Hull 10 metre line the ball was moved right and Wayne Reittie provided the money ball for Jodie Broughton to get his fourth try. Tansey converted to take the Rhinos 50-0 ahead.

The game went into a lull as Hull tried to get a consolation try but the Rhinos defence held firm, but in the 65th minute the Rhinos crossed again. Again it was off a kick, Jordan Tansey the provider and Wayne Reittie showed great pace to collect the ball and go over. Tansey again converted to give the Rhinos 56 unanswered points.

Hull then had their best chance to score with 10 minutes left, on the last tackle they had an overlap but it was a poor pass and Wayne Reittie collected to go 90 metres. Tansey converted to take the lead to 62-0.

It wasn't quite the repeat of last seasons Grand Final, Leeds taking full advantage of a weakened Hull side to take the honours. Luke Burgess and Simon Worral leading the way in the pack. Wayne Reittie impressed after coming on in the second half with Jordan Tansey directing operations and of course 4 try hero Jodie Broughton, but the ISC Sponsored SouthStander.com Man of the Match went to Michael Haley for his dominance up front.
