David Bywaters Player Appraisal - Bulls Away
Posted by southstander on April 08 2007 - 10:16:25

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Read more here....

Here are Davids thoughts about Thursday's away game against Bradford;

1Webb6Not his most impressive performance - sin-binned once again - needs to control his enthusiasm and keep his hands down.
2Donald7One of the best players on the park tonight - took his tries well and defended as well as he done all year.
3Toopi6Some good defence - the missed tackle for Les' try apart - however he isn't firing on all cylinders in attack .
4Senior6Time is a grim reeper - Keith had two scoring chances he would have converted earlier in his career yet didn't have the pace - sad to see the ravages of time on this once superb player.
20Gibson6Didn't have much to do but competently dealt with everything thrown at him - showed his inexperience when bundled into touch by Big Les
6McGuire8Whenever you are in a jam here I am - did what he does better than any player in the Leeds side - converts half chances into match winning scores.
7Burrow7Works his butt off - seems to be getting caught ball-in-hand more than he used to - however up his work rate in the last 15 minutes to great effect for his team..
10Peacock8His first 15 minutes were his best in a Leeds shirt - has last 15 minutes turned the game - great offload for the match winning try.
9Diskin5Slow, ponderous and out of touch - if Leeds had an alternatives Matt would be having a couple of games off - the interception pass was typical of game tonight - watch the DVD and see how many times he isn't able to get to the PTB.
16Bailey9My MOM - he worked so hard going forward and tackled himself to a standstill. His form has been steadily improving since the start of the season - long may it continue.
11JJB7Contributed much to the defensive effort - if only he could refrain from giving away 2/3 penalties a game.
12Ellis7Solid but one of he less poorer performances of the season. Having said that he scored the pivotal try of the game.
13Sinfield7Marshalled his troops well - worked very hard indeed - deserved some plaudits for the team's performance..
14Lauiti'iti6Low on confidence - bit starting to show a glimpse of his old self - one great offload to Senior - pity Senior was too slow to react.
15Thackray7Ran with desire, tackled with heart - Jamie shows what making the starting 17 means to him.
8Leuluai5Anonymous - not for the first time - perhaps he needs more game time to display his talents to the full
23Tansey5Not enough game time to make any impression on the game - given Diskin's poor form maybe it is time for Tansey to get a start.
