Two on the Trot for Senior Academy?
Posted by southstander on February 25 2005 - 09:17:42

Kicker Supreme
by Matthew Horton

The Rhinos Senior Academy travel to Wilderspool on Saturday to take on a Warrington side that is looking to rebuild after some what losing its way in 2004.

The game kick off at 2.30pm and at the moment is not said to be in any danger from the recent bad weather.

After the easy victory over Salford last week it should be a confident Rhinos side which travels to Wilderspool this weekend. Nick Scruton has been picked in the 20 man squad for first grade this weekend and with the McGuire injury, it's a little difficult to tell who will actually be released from the first grade squad for the weekends game. Smith and Botham were impressive last week, as was Scott Murrell who can count himself unlucky not to have been picked in the First Grade squad this weekend.

I expect the Rhinos to line up: Smith, Gardner, Buttery, Gibson, Williams, Murrell, Gallagher, Scruton, J I'Anson, Stenchion, Golden, Botham, Ablett, Tansey, Gordon, Walsh, Tootill

Warrington, on the other hand, will be looking to build on a poor season which saw them win only one championship game all season against Widnes. They have made improvements to their squad and don't be surprised to see Chris Bridge get a run out. The teams met three times last season, in the Grading Phase the Rhinos were only 12-8 up at half time before registering a 60-14 win. In the League game at Wilderspool a young Rhinos side featuring Chaz I'Anson and Ashley Gibson on debut scraped home 20-12 in a tough struggle before Man Of the Match Jonny Wainhouse helped the Rhinos run out comfortable 58-10 winners in the Headingley return.

If your in the Warrington area pop down and give the lads your support. A match report will appear on the site sometime late Saturday/early Sunday.
