U18's to 'Do or Die'
Posted by southstander on September 29 2005 - 18:10:47

Who's Bravest?
by Matthew Horton

Do or die time for the Under 18's as they travel to Widnes RUFC on Sunday to take on the Vikings in the Junior Academy Championship Preliminary Final.

The game kick off at 2.00pm.

The Rhinos come into this game on the back of a superb 38-26 win away at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last week in the Minor Semi Final following the 25-14 victory over the Huddersfield Giants the week before.

Winger Danny Allen and hooker Mark Watts were the two try heros at Warrington last week with Wayne Reitte, captain Mike Ratu, James Archibald and Mike Brown also crossing the white wash. Kyle Briggs adding three goals. Joe Walsh backed up in this game after appearing in the 21's Grand Final victory from the interchange.

Widnes, who finished second in the league table, went to Orrell last week and lost 24-12 to Wigan Warriors, who await the victors of Sunday's game in the Grand Final.

John Bastion now has a number of options available to him now the Under 21's season has finished with Ashley Gibson, Danny Williams, Jordan Tansey, Luke Burgess, Jason Hart and Jamie I'Anson from the Grand Final winning team that could drop back into the team. I do though, expect the team not to be disturbed too much as Coach Bastion keeps faith in the team that has got his this far.

Directions to Widnes RUFC from Leeds can be found here. There may be a small admission charge, this has yet to be confirmed.
