U21's Final Chance for the Grand Final

Back at Leeds
by John D

Having blown the first attempt at reaching the Senior Academy 1st division Grand Final last week, Leeds get their second bite at it on Friday in a game that is acting as a curtain raiser to the first team's final regular season match of the season.

Coach Stuart Wilkinson has made several changes to the team beaten by Widnes in a downpour last week as Leeds look to bounce back.

Castleford come into the game having beaten Huddersfield convincingly in an elimination play-off 56-22, but have had a very up and down season. Highlights include putting 40 past Salford, 78 past Doncaster and a thrashing of neighbours Featherstone. That is tempered by shipping 80 and 50 in two games against Widnes for just 14 in return and two defeats to Leeds. With relegation into NL1, many of the U21 regulars from last season have been seeing first team action and this has impacted on their form. In a one-off game though, it's anybodies.

Leeds ring the changes this week. Scott Murrell returns from injury and Peter Fox is welcomed back from his loan spell at York. Mike Ratu and Luke Gayle return to U18 duty and Francis Cummins is called into first team action. Nick Scruton steps down from the first team to bolster an already strong looking pack. The side lines up as: Jordan Tansey; Danny Williams, Chris Buttery, Ashley Gibson, Matt Gardner; Scott Murrell, Iain Gordon; Luke Burgess, Jamie I'Anson, Nick Scruton; Jason Hart, Jason Golden; Joe Walsh. Subs: Peter Fox, Dale Harris, Luke Stenchion, Dave Tootill.

Kick off is at 5:30, so if you're up at HQ early, get in and give the lads your much appreciated support.
